He’s been much too good with the bat to send down. Yeah, he’s in a slump right now, but sending down your current clean up hitter? If he has to learn to play 1st, then it’s going to be is Boston, and you live with the defensive ups and downs that that entails. I think they’ve finally decided to leave him at second instead of bouncing him around. I’d leave him there and figure something else out.

Nobody is going to trade anyone right now, and the Sox are trading from a position of weakness, making any deal that much more expensive.even if it was more towards trading season.

You know what I really don’t see with Devers? The joy he had when he first came up. He was always smiling. We haven’t seen that the past few years.

I’m coming around to that opinion. I don’t see him as the kind of guy that would do what Story did last season, doing everything he could to get back on the field in September to help the team in the playoff chase.

It’s not the hands on that type of play; it’s the ability to ignore the runner bearing in on you and not short arm the ball, and that only comes with time. I agree that Devers could be a pretty good 1B if he wants to put in the work. But does he?

Yeah, that’s probably it. It’s the kind of play that points to why you just don’t throw a guy over there. An experienced guy probably comes up with that. As poor a Casas was, he saved several throwing errors this year.
