  1. Wasn’t an easy play, it wasn’t hit very high. But it needs to be made. Bernardino made it moot by getting Mullins.
  2. Bernardino starts off allowing a weak hit. Jansen needs to catch that. Not an easy play, but one that has to be made. Doesn’t bode well.
  3. He pitched nothing like his previous stat line tonight. Part of it was Sox hitters but a bigger part of it was Povich. I can see why the O’s have him rated their #1 pitching prospect.
  4. With his persistent and juvenile attempts to goad moon, notin (and others at times) into pissing contests, Red has long ceded the moral high ground on anything. He’s tried it in this thread. In other words, Red’s the guy in the stands trying to provoke a reaction.
  5. What’s the deal with the wrong months in the thread titles? This is 3 straight. I get the first time was probably a typo, but it’s not like they’re on a winning streak and people are keeping it going because of that.
  6. Are you referring to the way Brown is dotting the strike zone? He’s had no-hit stuff today and is putting every pitch where he wants it.
  7. Smith’s bobble had nothing to do with the play. A pitcher should be moving to first on any ball hit in that direction. He can always stop if the first baseman waves him off. Didn’t look like Paxton got more than a couple of steps before he got hurt. If he waited to move, that’s on him.
  8. More of a puzzler is that Booser been pretty effective.
  9. Surprised Devers got anything to hit, especially after the first 2 pitches.
  10. You forgot to use the green “sarcasm” font.
  11. Sounds like a legend that might predate video.
  12. Only thing I can think of Snider was going with the slide step and varying his release times. Duran might not have felt he could get a jump.
  13. If I were the Mariner manager, I’d have walked Romy and taken my chances with O’Neill
  14. Why is Duran not running? Worst case is he starts the 10th at second.
  15. Wasn’t it John Krukmwho once quipped to a female reporter “Lady, I’m not an athlete, I’m a baseball player”?
  16. He looked like something was wrong after the second hitter. Didn’t really get over to cover first on the grounder either.
  17. There’s YouTube videos that show it happening.
  18. Don’t know about fielding the grounder (sounds like a once in a lifetime happenstance) but I certainly could see allowing yourself to get hit by a batted ball to break one up.
  19. Yep. Like I said, a heads play by Turner. Guy’s a pro’s pro.
  20. Not always. I’ve seen instances where umps haven’t awarded first on that call.
  21. I must have missed the post where you said Cora should take Bello out after 6 innings.
  22. Not a missed call.
  23. Actually, a heads up play by Turner. He ran right into O’Neill’s path.
  24. Joel Youngblood once had hits for two teams in one day. He got a hit for the Mets in an afternoon game vs the Cubs; an inning later he was traded to the Expos, got to their night game in Philadelphia and got a hit for Montreal. Turner did have a hit for the Jays earlier today.
