  1. I could go either way with it. Neither is a good option.
  2. Pro players are banged up this time of year, but there’s a difference between playing hurt and playing injured. You can play hurt, playing injured is different. Raffy did miss several games a couple weeks ago and they said it was shoulder related. I’m guessing it more serious than just hurt, and if it were June, he probably be on the IL for a few weeks. I’ll give him full credit for trying. Ditto Story for busting his butt getting back for the last 20-25 games of the season. That also shows the kids something.
  3. Pick your poison with that duo. Soto had struck out twice and they did get to 2 strikes on him. Judge had hit the ball pretty hard 3 times IIRC. We also don’t know how the two of them have fared against Winckowski. i guessing they would have walked Judge had they gotten Soto.
  4. They are what they are. A flawed .500 team. Smoltz doesn’t say much intelligently, but he did have a point when he said the kids going through this “chase” should pay dividends in future years.
  5. Yeah. Not much you can do about a perfectly placed grounder.
  6. Do you send Kenley out for another inning? I do. With this part of the Yankee lineup, you have to use the best you’ve got. Need 6 outs to win the game anyway.
  7. You have to play it that way. Sometime in the 90s, the O’s and Jays were in a deciding playoff game. It went extra innings (old rules) and the O’s manager never used his closer (who had been virtually unhittable all year) to keep him ready for a save opportunity that never came. Jays hit a walk off homer of some other reliever to win the series.
  8. Because he’s a professional ball player. Unlike you, he’s not a quitter.
  9. He’s had his moments, but he definitely a 7-8 guy in the pen.
  10. Unsurprisingly, Booser’s not sharp. Edit - retires nobody in 4 hitters.
  11. He’s making a case to take over Pivetta’s #5 slot in the rotation next year.
  12. Great job by Criswell tonight. 6 1/3, 1 run on a Yankee Stadium pop up to right.
  13. They’re explosive in the sense they have a lot of guys besides Judge and Soto who can hit the long ball, especially in that bandbox. But they are not a pesky team that’s going to gum you to death.
  14. Were you expecting a complete game.? He’s essentially a long reliever. 4-5 is what you get.
  15. Interesting Abreu starting against the southpaw. Is Refsnyder hurt?
  16. There was no discussion. It was just Fred posting his tired tripe attempting to stir things up. He probably also babbled something about “Little League defense” as if the players from 20 or 30 or 40 years ago never made an error or a boneheaded play.
  17. Crawford with a solid 6 innings. I’ll take that from a starter every time out. First homer was a wind blown fluke. Second one was powdered. 1 run very seldom gets you a win. Too many K’s by Sox hitters. Let’s hope they can get to the O’s pen.
  18. Abreu may or may not figure out lefties, but with all of 65 MLB PAs against them in his career, it’s a bit early to make the statement that he’s not a good fit. His minor league stats don’t show nearly the disparity as his limited major league ones do.
