  1. I’m at a community theater performance of 42nd Street tonight, plenty of tap dancing in it
  2. I agree. But even the GOAT is a goat once in a while; all it means is he was human. My vote for best pitcher of all time is for Walter Johnson. 400+ wins for basically mediocre Senators teams (in an era when wins meant something for a pitcher) 110 shutouts. A career ERA just north of 2.00 and he held the strike out record for over 50 years. All while throwing just fastballs ( they say he very occasionally mixed in a curve). It’s also said he was deathly afraid of hurting someone and rarely threw inside.
  3. Excellent. Hard the believe it’s been 50 years since I heard those immortal words. I was just shy of my 11th birthday that Sunday afternoon and evening. I was reflecting a couple days ago on how much has changed over that time. One was that they took that journey with a computer with less power than the phone I’m typing this on. Then it hit me that my grandmother, born in 1889, came into the world about the time of the invention of the automobile and lived to see a man walk on the moon. To keep this baseball related, that was before the DH and it was the first year of divisional play.
  4. One good sign is JBJ has gone to the left side 3 times. He seems to hit best when he does that.
  5. There’s no secret to keep. I’m pretty sure the scouts on other teams have their opinions on what’s up with him.
  6. I think that back is still bothering him some, not terribly but enough to screw with his swing just a bit, and that’s all it takes.
  7. Actually, forget that back end arm part; I bet they activate Eovaldi for tomorrow.
  8. This is the perfect time to use him. If he manages to wriggle out of this cheap (say only giving up 1 run), then maybe the Sox offense can come back against the O’s pen. If he doesn’t, so what?
  9. If it gets too far out of hand, Weber will probably eat some innings, then get sent down for some other back end arm.
  10. Price has overall been decent this year. He didn’t have it tonight. Have to wonder if all the pitches he threw against the Dodgers affected him tonight.
  11. Got to love Castiglione and company. They were just mocking the Sunday Night ESPN crew for taking like 5 hours to recognize that Brock Holt looks like Matt Damon and then congratulating themselves like they had discovered penicillin.
  12. I don’t get to see every game, so I’ll cede to your observation. I guess the ones in April stood out since they were costing games and everything, positive and negative gets magnified early.
  13. That’s true; there were a bunch of issues back in April for sure.
  14. He thinks everyone on a lousy team is a lousy player. But then, I know nothing about baseball.
  15. It’s hard to do when you have 3 bench players including the backup catcher.
  16. There’s a reason he’s best used as a DH. 3 mistakes on one play.
  17. I may wave pom poms but you bitch so much it’s impossible to take you seriously at all. Back to ignore.
  18. Just keep in mind that Means is a damn good pitcher. That sub-3 ERA is nothing to sneeze at.
  19. Don’t confuse him with facts. He’ll be apoplectic if Price allows an early run.
  20. IIRC, they said that said guru was with the Diamondbacks last year but that his contract there allowed him to talk with JD. They also indicated that his Dodger contract does not allow that.
  21. Do you risk a 3rd. I say yes.
  22. Good call guys. I’m calling right now for him to throw the 8th as well.
  23. IDK where JD is right now, but he looks awful.
