Boggs met the criteria, Dewey didn’t. I love Ortiz, but he technically hasn’t met the criteria yet either.
Frankly, I prefer the Sox way to that of other teams who seem to retire the numbers of the very good rather than the great.
I said earlier the Jays don’t quit. Right after they left Boston the last time they went to NY and kept making it close with the Yanks.
Dumb play by Devers.
He pitched well last night. Like a lot of these guys, he seems incapable of pitching back to back games.
I would not have taken Walden out; he’s capable of going and has gone more than 1 inning; I even thought he might have gone 3 and gotten a cheap save.
It’s on both of them. Bad read by Chavis (wonder if Grichuk deked him). Bradley was thinking triple out of the box but also needs to look up once he hits second.
Not saying that they shouldn’t have bunted, only what the results of a successful bunt would have been. Bogaerts may have driven in the run, but he had struck out in a similar situation a couple innings earlier, albeit against Jansen.
More than likely they walk both of them. So what does Bogaerts do? He struck out the previous time in with a chance to win it (albeit against Jansen). We know JDM grounded out weakly to end the inning.
Umm, he managed the pen to 6 scoreless innings until Neck Tat took the mound.
There is a lot of blame to go around in this one. Bogie’s error cost 3 runs. Leaving the winning run on 2nd in 3 straight innings. Base running blunders. Cora’s bullpen management isn’t one of them.
