  1. I remember that in the 1969 World Series. Cleon Jones, wasn’t it?
  2. So who are you trading to get one, cause you aren’t getting one for just Benintendi.
  3. The umps somehow missed the fact that the ball hit Benintendi’s foot. You can’t fake that reaction.
  4. In what position? Who are you replacing? Who are you giving up?
  5. How do you win 9 games for the f***ing Orioles by sucking? Seriously, he hasn’t pitched since July 6; it’s showing in lack of sharpness.
  6. Good grief some of you panic waaaaay too easily.
  7. He was killing Sox pitching this year for sure.
  8. May be the effects of not pitching since July 6. That’s a long time off.
  9. He was 9-3 with the O’s. He was the only guy they did get a lead for; I think they said when he was traded Baltimore had 28 wins total.
  10. Sogard singled on a 9 or 10 pitch AB, fouling off 6 or 7 pitches. Vlad Jr. hit into a DP. Gurriel tripled on a pitch 6 inches outside and Grichuk bounced out.
  11. Sogard’s AB would have made Wade Boggs proud.
  12. Gurriel’s triple was on a pitch 6 inches outside. Shades of Vlad Sr.
  13. Works quickly, I like that. So far, he’s fitting right in. 6 foul balls so far.
  14. Giving up homers is not a big deal. Somewhere in this thread I mentioned Verlander leads the majors in that category and someone else noted Verlander is second in the majors over the last 3 years. The difference is the Houston righty gives up very few other runs. I think he’s allowed 26 homers this year but only 45 runs overall. Tells me he gives a lot of solo shots. Porcello has allowed 16 homers but 70 runs. That’s the real problem. Ditto Sale.
  15. Haven’t seen that movie in years. Scott delivered a somewhat more sanitized of one that Patton actually gave in the spring of 1944. The real Patton had a very squeaky voice as opposed to Scott’s gravelly one.
  16. If you really want to sum up the state of the Sox starting pitching, using traditional numbers, Cashner is the Sox #2 pitcher behind Price.
  17. JBJ made two base running errors on that play. One was going in the first place but once he did, Bradley should have gotten into a rundown to let Hernandez get to second base, leaving the situation the same as if he had never gone in the first place. They still probably would have pitched to Betts and walked Devers, and maybe Bogies grounder wins it.
  18. The one thing I can think of is they are really concerned about Benintendi. Perhaps they are considering a platoon situation, at least for the rest of this year? Travis can play left and while Nunez has done so in the past, I don’t think he has played OF with Boston and his knee may not allow him to do so anymore.
  19. That’s what I remember about him most. Ever seen the you tube video with him talking about the catch in 75? Very interesting about how he basically lost the ball because it wasn’t curving the way it normally would.
  20. Red Sox criteria includes selection to Cooperstown. Ortiz isn’t there (yet). Pesky is the only one up there who isn’t, and he was only around the club for what, 60 years?
