  1. Well one good thing is they won’t see Valdez. He’s beginning to remind of the way Gaylord Perry used to pitch against the Sox back in the 70s. Sox couldn’t touch Gaylord, and on the rare occasion they did score a few runs against him, Cleveland’s offense would show up.
  2. Doubt it, might be up to Devers to do that. As Rex Barney, the old Oriole PA announcer would say after a nice play by a fan: “Give that fan a contract”
  3. Other than in game 1, Valdez has been kryptonite to the Sox this year; Through 8 innings tonight: 3 games, 22 1/3 IP, 3 R, 13 H, 3 BB, 23 K, 1.21 ERA Even including Game 1: 4 games, 25 IP, 6 R (5 ER), 19 H, 5 BB, 25 K, 1.80 ERA
  4. DP if he doesn’t get in the way of it.
  5. Thought I saw he signed a new 3 year deal earlier this week.
  6. This would be the type of game he should be used in.
  7. 5, but it certainly feels like 10.
  8. Valdez could go 9 tonight (he won’t, but he could). He’s at 54 pitches through 5.
  9. 13 actually. I think they’ve gotten one runner to 3rd in that time.
  10. Led to 4 unearned runs that inning.
  11. Just one. The one Schwarber dropped was not a hit. Edit - now it’s more than one.
  12. Lot of very soft contact this inning but one that wasn’t.
  13. It’s about time for Stork the troll to show up, isn’t it?
  14. Was about to ask if they should walk Alvarez; couldn’t type fast enough. Dumb pitch selection; he’s gone oppo both previous ABs, so let’s throw the pitch where he can do it again.
  15. Definitely. Inexperience reared it’s ugly head there.
  16. Schwarber panicked there.
  17. When he was going well early in the season and then again in August, he was going to right quite a bit. He has become completely pull happy in October.
  18. We’ve done it all year; why should now be any different?
  19. And they will continue to do as long as they keep trying to pull the ball. You have to think opposite field against that sinker. It’s no coincidence the closest thing the Sox have to a hit was Verdugo liner that was just foul to left.
  20. This is a rhetorical, right? Because we all know the answer.
  21. Really 8. I’ll take 2 runs over 8 innings anytime.
  22. Exactly. It was likely his throw day; he can do it in the game or in the pen.
  23. I was responding to the post about 4 straight fastballs to Correa to start the inning. Who called those pitches?
  24. Eovaldi and Vazquez has not been a good combination this year.
