  1. There was one guy in the ballpark who didn’t think that was strike 3 to Vazquez. Miller is not having a good day back there.
  2. I know; I’m just saying he normally would throw today so it wouldn’t be a real stretch to use him today.
  3. I assume today is his throw day; he’ll just do it in a game instead. If he’s got his stuff, he could go 2.
  4. I’d go one more with him; the bottom of the O’s line-up is due up. I don’t think I’d let him face Mullins though.
  5. It was just about 1 year after he was brought up that he started this hot streak. Could be that it just took him that long to figure it out. Not everyone gets it right away.
  6. He was released by the Angels on September 3rd, so no, there was nothing Bloom could have done.
  7. The major league strike zone defined as: The official strike zone is the area over home plate from the midpoint between the batters shoulders and the top of the uniform pants - when the batter is in his stance and prepared to swing at a pitched ball - and a point just below the kneecap. That top part sounds like a real PITA for an ump to figure out. Bottom of shoulder or armpits or something sounds a lot more determinate. We have to remember that the rectangle only depicts the front edge of the plate. The real zone is a pentagonal prism between the above upper and lower limits. I certainly can see why some of the breaking balls just above the top of the zone could drop over the plate in the zone and look high per the rectangle. I suppose a big breaking slider could so it as well.
  8. The Yankees extra game is of no concern; the Sox have 3 games left with the Evil Empire. They control their own destiny against the Yankees.
  9. I remember. I’m 62 (oops, make that 63 now). But they don’t do it any more.
  10. Nah. You don’t waste that on Jose Iglesias.
  11. Too bad they couldn’t have scored a few of these with Nate on the mound.
  12. IDK, but it may have been the Eisenhower administration.
  13. I like the use of the question mark.
  14. I agree. You have to wonder if the fact that he’s played more games than he ever has before is a factor in his hitting slump.
  15. They have to lead the majors in percentage of homers that are solo. I’m guessing a team like Toronto may have more solo homers by raw number, but it’s because they hit so many homers to begin with.
  16. That Renfroe is weak defensively should have been no surprise. Looking back over his career, he’s had 4 seasons where he’s played in 90 or more games. In 2017, he had 9 errors in 117 games. In 2018, he had 8 errors in 95 games. This year, he’s had 11 errors in 125 games. Only in 2019, when he only had 2 errors in 111 games did he not approach double figures. Even last year, he had 3 in 32 games.
  17. In the end, it wouldn’t have mattered. But it’s just another sign that these guys have either checked out or are just dumb.
  18. Top of the order with another stellar inning.
  19. But should have taken third on that lineout.
  20. JD got a break on the pitch that made it 3-2; I think the catcher cost Anderson the strike by yanking it up so far. But for once, they got a break and took advantage of it.
  21. Anderson’s the kind of guy you have to take up the middle or the opposite way. They’re trying to pull everything.
  22. Be nice if they could score some runs for Eovaldi. His last 3 starts, they have scored 0, 2 and 0 while he’s been in the game.
