  1. Here's an interesting (long) article about the effects of robo-umps in the Low A Southeast League, where they used them this past season. It also looks at other rules changes that have been implemented this and in past minor league seasons at all levels, including pitch clocks, moving the mound back, larger bases, and limits on pickoff attempts. https://www.theringer.com/mlb/2021/10/21/22736400/experimental-rules-atlantic-league-robo-umps
  2. Is this Bogaerts final AB in a Sox uniform?
  3. Yep. It’s been absolutely ridiculous.
  4. Only question is will they hit a meaningless solo homer in the 9th to avert the shutout.
  5. They’ve been playing home run derby the whole series. They’ve scored 28 runs. 23 of them have been on home runs.
  6. Yes I am. Any big league pitcher can make opposing hitters look silly if they have their stuff that day. It’s how often they have their good stuff that separates the great from the good from the average from the bad.
  7. Verdugo will move there, Kike back to center, Dalbec to 1st and Shaw to 2nd.
  8. So the defense in the bottom of the 8th will be? Dalbec to 1st, Shaw to 2nd, Kike back to CF and Verdugo to RF?
  9. Does Dalbec hit for Renfroe here?
  10. Smoltz with an great point about the lead Verdugo didn’t take. He gets another 6 inches he’s safe.
  11. Took a perfect throw to get him and Maldonado delivered.
  12. Is he getting Chuck Knoblauch disease?
  13. I know you meant 2-0, but it sure seems like 20-0.
  14. It says something about the Astros lineup that they have this year’s AL batting champ batting 7th. Tucker was top 10 and hits 6th.
  15. You don’t throw strikes to Alvarez right now. Balls 6 inches off the plate might be too close.
  16. Should have drilled him. It’s also late, and the Astros have killed this part of each game so far.
  17. Sox are now 1-20 with RISP and 2 outs in the series. That’s really hard to do.
  18. Since Big Papi talked him a few days ago, he’s cut out the huge over swing. That was not a pitch to swing at on a 0-0 count.
  19. Devers needs to stay within himself here. A single is what’s needed. He doesn’t need to swing out if his shoes to hit a long ball.
  20. Wanted the lefty hitter, but why not Shaw. He’s at least a threat to hit the ball hard somewhere.
  21. Plawecki could have done that. Hell, one of the pitchers could have done that.
