  1. Sox have multiple players out of position now. No Arroyo? Or is he going to hit for JD in the 9th?
  2. The guy can’t even post an image of the right Ted Hendricks. Why are we engaging him.
  3. That’s now. What was the conversion rate in 1990, when his famous miss took place? I wouldn’t be shocked to find overall accuracy at 75% back then, let alone from over 45 yards.
  4. Not exactly ripped, but it went just far enough.
  5. In breaking news, Sox get a man on second with nobody out and fail to score.
  6. That reference says 6 times and predates the Yankees doing it in 2020, so it’s been done 8 times now.
  7. This has to be rhetorical, right? State legislatures/city councils wouldn’t formally pass them but there were numerous Governors and mayors who issued the equivalent of executive orders mandating masks in a variety of scenarios. As I recall (and I welcome a correction if I’m wrong) one of Gov. Newsome or the mayor of Los Angeles at least for a while early on, mandated their use everywhere, even if you were outside alone. But mvp is right, this turn in the thread needs to end.
  8. JH does not make roster moves. Brasier is fine as a 6th-7th inning guy. The problem is the Sox pen is filled with pitchers who are okay as 6th-7th inning guys.
  9. Okay, although I have to admit I’m a little weak on the first part after all these years.
  10. I’m in Hilton Head right now; it was the same for me. Got around it via a VPN on the phone and turning off location. No more blackout.
  11. You needed to cite a source for the fight song?
  12. Franchy is definitely a placeholder. He’s 27. He’s a AAAA player. And to be fair about his WAR, his career totals basically say he has played one full season over his 5-6 year career. He might figure it out enough offensively to get to a 0, but his defense is always going to keep him from getting much past that.
  13. A lot, most far less noteworthy than Fiderych.
  14. I remember one circa 1974 when the Angels beat the Sox in 15 innings. Tiant went the distance for the loss; Ryan was removed kicking and screaming in the 13th or 14th.
  15. Pitchers didn’t throw every pitch max effort back then. Even a guy like Ryan didn’t throw every pitch 100+, he saved that for when he needed it.
  16. Bingo. The reverse is a Bloom move.
  17. Doubtful they’d be 6-0, because that would imply that the Red Sox actually scored in those extra innings. In at least 2-3 of them, they didn’t. Their futility with men on second has been well documented.
  18. My eye test says he’s had some hard shots right at people. He’s also had a lot of soft contact as well. In other words, his normal offense. He’s at his best when he uses the whole field, but once he did that a few times, he gets pull happy again, and that’s when he really struggles.
  19. Ground out, strike out, deep fly ball.
  20. An absolutely stupid piece of hitting by Devers. That is not a pitch you swing at 0-0.
  21. He’s pressing at this point. Coors effect would explain long flies falling short; it does not explain inability to make contact when needed.
  22. On too many foul balls off the face mask? He may not be the dumbest base runner in all of baseball, but he’s definitely in the starting lineup.
  23. If it doesn’t hit Pivetta, it’s right at Bogaerts. Edit - Vazquez remedies that unfortunate bounce.
