You can’t use the main bullpen guys multiple runs behind, especially with Pivetta snd ERod going the next two days. Perez may have to take one for the team here.
The way Cole is dealing, it may not have mattered if good Nate had showed up. Good Cole is a better pitcher than good Eovaldi.
Warning: assuming normal rest, if the Sox face the Yanks in the wild card game, Cole would take the mound against Eovaldi.
While not to blame, there are a lot of posters here who insisted that anyone can play first base and it would be no big deal for Schwarber to make the switch.
He didn’t have it tonight. It happens. Bad time yo have his worst game of the year, but pitchers have days like this once in a while, even real good ones (Cole had one his last start, for example).
I’m guessing Plawecki next starts when the Sox have either clinched a spot or have been eliminated. He’ll probably get in the game tonight as part of a blow out.
Even the worst teams in baseball win 1/3 of their games. The Sox offense has gone virtually nothing the last 3 innings and other than JDs homer (which barely made it out), nothing since the 2nd.
JD did not strike out. The ump gave the pitcher a strikeout. That ball was 4 or 5 inches outside. At the very least he should have been at a 3-2 count.
Not lately; they haven’t been scoring while he’s on the mound his last 4 or 5 starts. They’ve put up some runs after he’s been out of the game, but not while he’s been on the hill.
