  1. Valdez should be sitting in the dugout right now. Horrendous defensive inning.
  2. Remember, options now mean option years. I’m pretty sure Valdez is in his 3rd and final option year, so for 2023, he’ll either have to stick with whatever major league club has him or he’ll have to be DFA’d. Up until this year, within a given option year, a player could be sent down any number of times during the year. Starting this year, that was limited to 5 times, but then they added something about that not taking affect until they went to the 26 man roster, which was late May IIRC. Confused? Understandable. I think Valdez has at least 3 more yo yos this year.
  3. Left off JD, who is at 166 and 4.6 (which includes tonight's homer).
  4. At least two. Somebody named Shaun Jeter had a forgettable brief cup of coffee with the White Sox in 1992 while Johnny Jeter played 6 mediocre seasons with several clubs in the early 70s.
  5. Notice how quiet the booth has become? Perez is doing what he always does, solid work. Don’t recall hearing Cone at all that inning and Ravetch almost sounds sad.
  6. Angel Hernandez does not suck. There is no adjective that can describe his ineptitude. The other thing is most umps are decent on the bases. Hernandez is absurdly horrible at all facets of umpiring (although I think he does a decent job of accepting the line-up cards before the game).
  7. I wouldn’t say flash in the pan; he’s a 3 at best and probably a 4. Those type guys are capable of really good to great starts, but those streaks are short.
  8. True, but Ravetch has been infinitely worse IMO. He’s been worse than Costas was Thursday night, and that’s saying something.
  9. Ain’t going to matter if Pivetta doesn’t start pitching better.
  10. He’s been pitching above his pay grade; shouldn’t be unexpected.
  11. The ESPN fellating of all things Yankee has begun.
  12. Pivetta not sharp. He’s a #3 at best, regression to the mean?
  13. The 1-0 miss by the ump may have changed that at bat.
  14. Yup, hasn’t been here since the 6th inning, when he explained about the A bullpen crew.
  15. I don’t want to think about what he’d be replaced with though.
  16. Odds of somebody dinking one off the Pesky Pole in the top of the 9th?
  17. There’s a lot to praise about the Yankees right now. That being said, they’ve been downright neutral compared to Costas’ performance in Thursday night on MLB network. I thought he was going to fellate half the Yankee team. Verducci tried to keep it balanced but Costas never shut up.
  18. Brasier got smacked around, but could have been out it unscored on with a competent center fielder.
  19. Middle of the Yankee lineup and need to keep it at one run. He can go multiple innings if need be.
  20. Greatest hitter? Yes. Greatest player? No. No speed and a very indifferent defender.
  21. Winckowski got hit and maybe Crawford will too, but they at least they don’t look scared. Can’t say the same for Seabold.
  22. I did that once in a Little League All-Star game. Pitch came in on me; somebody yelled out of the stands hit him. I nailed the next pitch off the pitchers foot for a base hit.
  23. That’s probably not going to affect him this inning; be interesting to see what sitting between innings will do.
  24. Kike has 24; he's hit leadoff the majority of the games he's played in this year, and he hasn't played in a month. JD's and Bogaerts RBI stats this season are very troubling, and even moreso when you consider that since the All-Star Game last July (155 games or about a week shy of a full season), JD has hit 18 homers and has 71 RBIs while Bogaerts has 15 and 63.
