    Won't be Whitlock, at least on any regular basis. He's doing very well in the role he has right now and since he figures to be a part of the rotation next year, best to keep his confidence high. They'll keep him on that twice a week schedule and if he's in line for a multi-inning save, they'll let him finish. I don't think they will risk his arm doing every day type duty. My guess is Robles and Taylor will get looks. Robles has done the job before, as his 10 saves with the Twins this season attest. Taylor may get a look depending on matchups. Ottavino may also factor in; again, he's done the job at times this year and he seems to have at least righted his ship a little.

    Bull. Tonight was his 9the appearance in August, totaling 5 1/3 innings. He had 8 appearances in July for 8 innings (plus 1 inning in the ASG). His days of rest this month have been 6, 2 (before the doubleheader with Toronto where he pitched in both games), 0, 1, 4, 4, 2 and 0. He was pitching fine until that doubleheader. It's in his head; he's lost confidence, which is disaster for a reliever, especially a closer.

    Well, he’s got the second most on the staff this year. That was his first for the Sox but he had 10 for the Twins. At the very least, he didn’t s*** the bed tonight. I could see multiple guys bring used now. Robles, maybe Whitlock and once in a while Ottavino. It sure as hell can’t be Barnes; he needs to be like the 6th inning guy right now.

    I’ve got a meeting at 7 my time, but was hoping to watch from the beginning once that was over. Now I’ll have to wait until 90 minutes after the game ends.

    Crap, blacked out here. Damn blackout rules. By my count, I’m blacked out for White Sox, Cubs, Cardinals, Royals, Brewers and Twins games. At least White Sox games I can see on their regional station. Not sure about the Cubs. The rest have no cable/satellite/streaming presence here whatsoever. I can count on one hand the number of Twins hats I’ve ever seen in this area and I’ve been here 37 years.

    Bogies going to have to tie or win this game. Martinez will probably strike out and Devers will be trying to hit a 5 run homer. That leaves Bogaerts.

    Everything’s the pitchers fault. That’s not to say Barnes has covered himself in glory here, but make some simple plays and this game is not tied right now.

    This team just cannot get hits to drive guys in. Seems like an awful lot of their runs recently have been on homers.

    At least they cleared to Schwarber to up the D a little. I’d guess Duran to center, Verdugo to leftShaw to first (batting in Schwarber’s spot).

    Just saw this on the new CBA negotiations. First luxury tax would kick in at $180M with 3 rates above that.     The Sox released him, so Boston is responsible for all but the prorated part of the MLB minimum. Seattle is paying him somewhere between $130K and 140K.

    His D seems to follow his O. If he’s hitting well, his D is good. When he’s slumping at the plate, he carries it to the field.

    They look too young for that but it wouldn’t surprise me if most are college players or perhaps players who played in college but gave up the sport. I think I remember reading about one from a few years ago who was a women’s college hockey goalie who had played softball all through high school.

    The ball girls played their usual stellar defense on foul balls; I’m always amazed at how good those girls are, especially when you compare how poor their counterparts in other parks seem to be.

    This might just qualify as the worst all around performance of the year. Bad pitching, bad hitting, bad defense and bad base running.
