  1. Vaz started because overall, ERod has pitched better with him behind the plate (didn’t go that way tonight but over the season it is true). Richards would be available tomorrow. Pivetta has pitched pretty well and if nothing else, is saving the pen, which is a good thing. He could even be putting himself in line for a potential Game 5 start should the series get that far.
  2. He did poorly at it the first half of the year. Cora stuck with him and he did very well at it in July and August up until he got Covid. He seems to have relapsed to his first half self. Problem is the Sox really don’t have anyone who fits the prototype lead off hitter profile. Schwarber might be the closest, but he is slow and wasn’t with the club until August. That’s the problem with playing that game; Cora has to manage the roster he has. Everything is trade-offs.
  3. I hope it’s an awfully thick limb or you are the size of a squirrel. Need you here tomorrow and Sunday.
  4. So enlighten us what you would do differently. It would be even more impressive to tell us in real time and not with 20-20 hindsight.
  5. Pivetta is fine as a number 5 starter. Hes not good enough to be a #3 like he was asked to be most of this year.
  6. All I know is if they let one go, you DON’T want to sign him. They never seem to be as good once they leave Tampa.
  7. You can’t explain anything to this guy. Mr. Twitter just bitches and moans. I don’t think he even actually watches the games from the way he wants to yank pitchers because they give up two seeing eye hits and a perfect bunt.
  8. Yeah, he’s got to start telling Sox hitters to stop hitting those hard shots right at Rays defenders.
  9. Well, I guess that means you won’t be watching the rest of it, so have a good winter.
  10. On one hand, they’ve managed to run up McClanahan’s pitch count a little. On the other hand, with the Rays’ pen, that might not be a good thing.
  11. Two of the softest balls the Sox have have gone for hits. The hardest hit ones have gone right at fielders.
  12. McClanahan is effing dealing tonight.
  13. I love it when the critics offer no alternatives or say what THEY would have done.
  14. I did like Fox’s explanation of the rings and how the ground rules apply. Never understood it before. That ball was crushed to hit where it did.
  15. Can we infer you don’t think it’s winnable?
  16. He’s not that far from having a 3 homer night.
  17. I did not attack you. I specifically said it was not a shot. You on the other hand, seem predisposed to name call anyone who shows even the mildest remark about you. Whatever. Enjoy the rest of the game.
  18. Nope. Pivetta was warming last inning and the radio guys said something about Whitlock warming while the Sox were at the plate.
  19. Just a700 showing his lawyer training. Form your argument and never, ever waver from it. That’s not a shot counselor; it is fine trait for a courtroom.
  20. He’s been damn good for well over a month, as in the last run he gave up was in August. Doesn’t mean it will work tonight, but it’s not an off the wall move.
  21. Did you think/say that in 78 on Bucky “Bleeping” Dent’s blast?
  22. Yankees shifted Torres just before that pitch. He was right up the middle the first couple pitches then moved him over about 15 feet towards first on that one. Plawecki hits that ball on the earlier ones it’s a base hit.
  23. I miss Australian Rules Football. I didn’t understand it very well, but it was great to watch.
  24. Ted Williams’ philosophy was look for a good pitch to hit and hit it; he was pretty successful with it. Verdugo got one but hit it hard in a bad spot.
  25. I’ve got the Sox radio broadcast synced up via Sirius XM and ESPN on silent; much more enjoyable. It’s a little behind, but it’s worth the delay.
