  1. 7 runs against anyone’s pitching will usually mean a loss. Every pitcher has a clunker once in a while.
  2. JD coming up small again with a chance to drive somebody in. 33 RBIs hitting out of the 3-4 hole all season. JBJ has 25 with 85 less plate appearances and batting 8-9 most of the time.
  3. He very well might. I don’t think he’s going to make it in Boston. Chavis seems to have achieved at least a modest level of competence in Pittsburgh. OTOH, Middlebrooks never did much anywhere else either. All I know is Bobby Dee has no confidence at the plate right now at all. He’s going up there hoping to not strike out and every close pitch seems to go against him.
  4. Have to believe Robles is gone as soon as Whitlock is back. Heck, he may be gone tomorrow to make room for Bella.
  5. Dalbec swings at ball 4 twice, but he gets so many close pitches called against him you can’t blame him. Inability to catch up to the same speed fastball 8 times is a different story.
  6. Except that Story can run, you’re right. Streaky power hitter who K’s a ton and is really good on D.
  7. Was it yesterday Devers hit one that nailed him in the berries? Not saying it’s the reason, just wondering.
  8. What was it Mussina said? You get 32 starts, you’ll have everything working 8 times, something working 16 times and nothing working 8 times. This just might be one of those last 8 for Pivetta.
  9. I think I speak for a lot of posters here; can you two take your mongoose and cobra act somewhere else? You are not adding anything to threads in your back and forth pissing contests.
  10. Depends on if Cora has a brain cramp and uses Robles. I sink or swim with Diekman.
  11. HBP may have helped the Sox in that regard; Wisdom doesn’t appear to be a bunter.
  12. That HBP means nothing. How about a ground ball that hits a base to end it.
  13. They have been more than patient with him, but there is way too much, in the words of the great Ernie Harwell, “stood there like the house at the side of the road” and it’s getting worse.
  14. Especially when one scores on a DP ball and another on a dropped ball in the sun.
  15. Verdugo needed to get in a run down there, allow JBJ to replace him at 3rd.
  16. Exactly. A loss today and the one yesterday are on the offense. At least yesterday you could chalk it up to some good Cubs pitching. Today there is no excuse, plenty of chances.
  17. Devers for a K, Story for a K and then Verdugo will line it into somebody’s glove.
  18. Raffle trying to go too much right now. Looks like he’s pulling off of everything.
  19. A DP is how they scored their run yesterday.
  20. Crap, you answered too quickly. For those wondering, a ruble is worth about 2 cents right now.
  21. Same with Winckowski yesterday. There’s a word for it - baseball.
  22. I wouldn’t call it suckitude. He’s pitched better, but he did throw 17 strikes out of 19 pitches. Struck out the first guy, then gave up a hard single that actually made the outfield. Pinch runner stole second but probably would have been out had a Bogaerts bothered to catch the throw. Hauvk struck out the next guy, then the wild pitch, followed by a solid single to left center, then struck out the last batter to end the inning. Not sharp, but not horrible. Pitching was definitely not the issue tonight.
  23. K looking, with the only swing being JD on a ball that almost hit him. Like I said, this week has had a very April feel to it.
