  1. We won't sign even one of Burnes or Fried, I fear. My guess is, we trade Abreu, a prospect from #5-15 + Grissom for the best SP'er we can get, and that won't land us a #1 or even a #2. Maybe we sign Kikuchi or Flaherty. We really need 3 SP'ers, so Crawford and Whitlock can be our mid/long men in the pen. I guess, we could build up the pen more than we need without adding the 3rd SP.
  2. 4-3 was pretty good vs those two teams, but since the ASB, we have done poorly.
  3. True. We were missing a lot of players, those last two months. Other teams were, too, but it seemed like it hit us harder. Losing ERod for all of 2020 hurt, too.
  4. DSL Red... http://news.soxprospects.com/2024/08/cup-of-coffee-jorge-rodriguez-helps.html
  5. The Covid season was 2020. I think we went something like 27-26 in the last 2 months of 2021.
  6. True, but the same is true for the other 30 batters in the top 35. Even Judge started out ay .663 after 24 games and was still at .725 on May 2nd (33 games.) Few batters hit .850+ every month, and even if they do, they likely ha ve a week where they hit under .600.
  7. Even the 2021 team went only 29-27 through Aug-Sept. 27-32 in 2022 22-34 in 2023 10-13 so far in 2024 Cora tried resting players in past years. That did not work. He tried not resting them, excessively, this year. So far, that is not working, either. Very little done at the deadlines has not helped, either.
  8. It's pretty nice seeing we have 5 batters in the top 35 OPS Leader List, but is shows how this is not enough to keep a team winning. We need pitching. IMO, the defense should improve, significantly, without any new additions, this winter. It's pitching, pitching and PITCHING!
  9. The worst part about this 5 game losing streak is not that it our first, but the fact that we were playing poorly before it, too.
  10. Let's wait and see how Lugo turns out. We've had dozens of prospects like him that amount to nothing. Certainly, our end of the deal has been horrible, and ultimately, a GM is always judged by hindsight, so Brez did choose the wrong guy to acquire.
  11. I don't get why something widely known down here, does not get the media attention in New England.
  12. Others... 20-47 Daryle Ward '00 23-47 O'Neill 20-45 Jeremy Giambi '02, I. Paredes '11, Wm Contreras '22 22-45 Mark Reynolds '14 20-44 Mike Zunini '18 21-44 G Jones '09 20-43 Fred McGriff '87 22-43 Chris Duncan '06 20-42 Gary Sanchez '16 21-42 Kevin Maas '90 20-40 Chris Hoyles '92
  13. MLB OPS Leaders w 250+ PAs: 1.197 Judge (WOW! 1.027 Soto 1.014 Witt .993 Ohtani 7. Devers.940 (.881 Casas but just 119 PAs) 18. Duran .876 19. O'Neill .875 31. Abreu .833 34. Refsnyder .822
  14. Well, she is blind, so there is that. Within that context...
  15. Here is what I found since 1901: Some notables: HR-RBI 47-94 Mark Trumbo 45-90 Barry Bonds 44-79 Frank Howard (worse than O'Neill x 2) 39-89 Norm Cash 38-67 Adam Duvall 38-76 Joe Adcock & 38-77 Santender 34-72 Matt Williams 33-67 HRam 30-59 Cedric Mullins 28-57 Jose Altuve 25-59 Barry Bonds & 25-58 Eddie Mathews 24-57 Michael Saunders These are only players who qualified by PAs)
  16. Slaten activated. Wink demoted. Horn added as the 27th man. Booser might be back "soon." Hendriks continues rehabbing. No further updates on Story.
  17. Slaten activated for the game. Wink demoted. Bailey Horn added as 27th man for second game of the day.
  18. He used to live in the city I live, Sugar Land, TX. Now, he has some mansion in Houston. I will never like Clemens. Impossible. His affair with an underage girl is well known, down here. https://ca.sports.yahoo.com/blogs/mlb-big-league-stew/report-clemens-had-affair-underage-mindy-mccready--mlb.html?guccounter=1&guce_referrer=aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cuZ29vZ2xlLmNvbS8&guce_referrer_sig=AQAAAJ82GO0uyiQU41WlUDLgNtVXXS0JuiaFroLINTXzbj1VFs7maak8XSS-tDdeWV41waU4S9ut2EeKkzYgvb66dDJG8XpB_q4id8-1kPIVn6mQvtFhdi2jfyeFZEkOdCYlkeUvA6cZbEPCdzvc6p-IU0SI2I8QKNJCtKh2Gns_A9bm
  19. My top 20: 1. Williams 2. Pedro 3. Clemens (dislike the guy) 4. Yaz 5. Cy Young 6. Speaker 7. Ortiz 8. Manny 9. Rice 10. Evans 11. Betts 12. Boggs 13. Grove 14. Doerr 15. Tiant 16. Lester 17. Nomar 17. Parnell 18. Foxx 19. Lynn 20. Pedroia/ Ruth
  20. Grissom went 4-5, yesterday. Maybe, just maybe...
  21. The DSL Red Sox continue winning every playoff game. They won today 10-1
  22. This has to be the lowest point of the year, except for maybe before the season began.
  23. The pitching ignoring actually began after we traded for Nate in the summer of 2018 (under DD.) Sure, DD extended Sale & Nate (not the best of moves, in hindsight,) but he added no other pitchers after Nate. After 2019, we let Kimbrel & Kelly (and PomPom) go without replacing them. To me, that was the start of ignoring, and it showed, immediately.
