  1. That stinks that BDC forums are shutting down. That said, there are some really good posters there that I think would be a great addition here.

    The Cubs

Yes, they are. And Arrietta is taking a no-no into the bottom of the 9th in a 16-0 Cubs rout.
  3. Koji will not be able to repeat his 2013 season, but that season was otherworldly. He is still an elite reliever if he is used properly.
  4. Agree. There are a lot of bright spots, and Price will be a bright spot too, despite his not so bright start as a Red Sox.
  5. Ahhh, the good 'ol days.
  6. Still way, way too early to panic. Price has been disappointing in a couple of starts so far, but I have no doubt he will settle in and be the Price that we all expected. That said, this loss stinks big time. You expect to win every time you spot Price 5 runs.
  7. Shaw has been very impressive defensively. Pablo who? LOL
  8. It's speculation, but the signs very strongly point to Lackey wanting out after the "mistreatment" of Lester during the extension talks. I don't think Ben had any choice but to trade him.
  9. Absolutely he gets the chance to prove himself. I have not stated or suggested that I wanted him fired. It will take years to fully assess the job he's doing. That doesn't mean I can't voice my concerns about what the ramifications of his aggressiveness might be on long term outlook of the team. I questioned Farrell in the very same post that I said he deserves a longer look than 2 weeks.

Big time David Ross fan. Also a big time Hanigan fan. I must have a thing for back up catchers.
  11. Is a dingus anything like a goober?
  12. AKA Panic Master
  13. This move has ended being a bad one, no doubt, though I hold out hope that it can still be somewhat salvaged. However, at the time it was made, there was some very sound rationale for making this move.
  14. I would normally agree with that, but not with Dombrowski running the show.
  15. I said coming into this season that I was on the fence about Farrell, and that I would hold off my opinion of him until after this season. He may not last the season, but IMO, he certainly deserves more than a couple of months. That said, he sure does have me scratching my head a lot so far.
  16. The Rays don't stand a chance tonight. Go Sox!
  17. This is why I come to Talksox. You can't beat this expert analysis.
  18. That's a possibility, although they insist that he's not.
  19. Holt has a better career BA than Young against lefties, but Young's OBP, SLG, and thereby OPS, are better than Holt's. Also, I'm sure Farrell is taking Young's 2015 numbers into account. He hit lefties very well.
  20. By stating last year's 7-5 record, I was trying to make the point of not reading too much into this year's .500 record so early in the season. A lot can and will happen before it's all said and done.
  21. There is a sense of urgency right now, and there has been one since spring training. A .500 start is not great, but nor is it terrible. Although the W-L record is the ultimate factor, at this point I think you need to take more into account than just the W-L record when trying to assess the team. Their record doesn't do them justice. IMO, they are a good bit better than a .500 team.
  22. Fat Pablo is on the DL and will be for a long time. No need for anyone to worry about him anymore.
  23. I think Swihart can be much better defensively than some people give him credit for. As I said before, he has two things working against him. One is that he was called into action before he was ready, and two is that he will never match up to Vazquez defensively. Then again, not a lot of catchers will.
  24. Yeah, I'm all about the defensive catcher, but he has to be able to at least hit the Mendoza line. A good offensive team can hide a weak bat in the 9 hole, but it's hard to overcome a pretty much automatic out. That said, after Vazquez was injured last year, I was somewhat relieved to hear that Leon was picked up.
  25. Nice. I need to find a job where I can goof off all day.
