  1. No, I'm really not trying to make it a moral question. I have already admitted that I am not morally superior to anyone. There is an awful lot of vitriol and hate being spewed towards Pablo. You can deny it all you want, but it's as plain as day. As far as I have heard from people who actually know Pablo, he's a good person. He's in a difficult situation. If you feel he has no one to blame but himself, that's fine. Regardless, there is no reason to continue to beat a man when he is down. None. Especially now that he's not even on the 25 man roster.
  2. We really don't want Dombrowski dipping into our farm.
  3. Statcast is a wonderful thing.
  4. They could have gotten better value for those assets. Don't get me wrong. I am thrilled that Kimbrel and Price are on the team. But that doesn't mean that we didn't overpay for them.
  5. No reduced expectations here. Porcello pitched very well regardless of anyone's expectations.
  6. I had just posted that Castillo was on Ben. Porcello is also on Ben, whether he ends up working out or not. The Lackey trade is on Ben. I've said that several times. I have never given Ben all the credit and none of the blame. However, Ben does deserve a lot more credit than he gets and a lot less blame than he gets.
  7. If by that you mean he should have been more publicly open about his objection, I strongly disagree. If by that you mean he should have been able to convince the owners not to sign him, I think you're kidding yourself.
  8. Ben did not have the autonomy that Dombrowski now has. Neither did Theo. Puppet is a big stretch, but Ben's hands were tied when it came to making "splashy" moves.
  9. If that's the case, I agree with everything you said.
  10. No, but you need more than 8, and you certainly need more than spring training.
  11. Would Swihart have been sent down if he had played like an All-Star in those first 8 games? The answer is no. Which means that sending him down after 8 games was a rash move.
  12. Of course, but it is not a good idea to "win now at any cost". Sure, it's all good, until in 3 years or so it's really bad. Obviously, it's too soon to know the long term effects. Hopefully, things will work out both short and long terms.
  13. And props to Koji too. He has been quietly dominant himself.
  14. Kimbrel being filthy and the FO overpaying for him are not mutually exclusive.
  15. My favorite moment of the game was the DP in the 8th inning. Not just the great defensive play, but I love how Hanley was so pumped up about it. He seems to have truly found his home as a first basemen.
  16. Shaw being good and his playing being a panic move are not mutually exclusive.
  17. OK, what am I missing with this post?
  18. What payroll mess? Pablo was definitely not his baby. Castillo was. Perhaps he wouldn't have to apologize for Castillo if Castillo were given more of a chance to prove himself at the big league level.
  19. I was unaware of his rape case. Or maybe I was aware at one time and forgot about it. If he did in fact rape someone, then shame on him and double shame on the fans that root for him.
  20. Can you say Panic! At the Disco? All of these "aggressive" moves just may work out, but they all reek of "win now" mentality, with no real consideration for the long term implications. That concerns me.
  21. Thank you. I wouldn't know, because I fortunately do not suffer from an addiction, but my understanding is that a food addiction is no different than an alcohol, cigarette, or drug addiction. No need for everyone to hate the guy because he's fat.
  22. The crowd reaction was great! As far as Farrell goes, I have not been happy with him so far this season, but as with everyone else on the team, he gets a fair chance to do his job before calling for his head.
  23. The rest of the offense should be good enough to cover a weak bat in Vazquez. IMO, any offense from him is gravy.
