  1. Let's make life miserable for the Yankees! Keep it going boys! Go Sox!
  2. Yankees fans are 100 times more likable when their team stinks.
  3. This is true. You have to be able to prove yourself against the Yanks. Barnes, Koji, and Kimbrel all did a great job in sealing the victory. That was an extremely awesome win in every way imaginable. Good for the soul.
  4. This is one of the things that makes Ortiz so seemingly "clutch". He's a good hitter because he's a smart hitter. Although if you become too predictable as a pitcher (or a hitter), you're likely going to pay the price.

    The Cubs

It's amazing how well both Chicago teams have been playing. I was hoping the White Sox would take care of the Os for us, but so far, no luck with that.
  6. LOL That is really funny Jack.
  7. That really was. That inning had trouble brewing all over it.
  8. That's true. What's odd about the bench situation is that going into ST, I thought our bench was going to be a strength. Holt really needs to be a supersub, where he provides more value to the team.
  9. It would be great to push the Yankees even further into last place. Let's get it done boys! Go Sox!
  10. Great hitters adjust and learn how to beat the shift. Shifts will eventually become less effective as offenses learn how to adjust to them.
  11. I liked the Young signing at the time that it happened. I felt like he would provide insurance in case Castillo did not pan out. To be honest though, at the time, I did not consider the lack of left handed starters in the AL East. IMO, our bench as a whole leaves a lot to be desired, Hanigan aside.
  12. Lunkhead is a good way to describe Clay. I don't think he zones out, but I don't think he has the mental toughness to be consistently good. That said, picking up his option was still a no brainer and will be regardless of how good or bad Clay pitches.
  13. Cool. You are definitely must read material.
  14. Welcome again to all of the new members coming over from BDC. There are too many of you to mention by name, but it's good to see you and I'm looking forward to reading your posts again.
  15. Hi Pike. I may be in the minority, but I have missed you. Good to see you here. Do not get yourself banned.
  16. The 4.5 ERA in a quality start sounds worse than it is, IMO. A 4.5 ERA isn't flattering, but a quality start always means that your team has a good chance to win. I'm happy with that on most nights.
  17. No, it really doesn't.
  18. IMO, the ability to manage the players is more important than in game managing. For the most part, the in game decisions are really not that difficult. At this point, Farrell seems to be doing a good job with the off field managing, regardless of his head scratching in game decisions. At any rate, 3 weeks into the season is too soon to make any kind of full assessment on Farrell or any of the players.
  19. Ha. Fangraphs is baseball porn. It's that good.
  20. I've said many times, patience is a virtue.
  21. I agree with this post, right down to the huge dislike for Maddon. I'm not a big fan of the shift either, but it is what it is.
  22. Generating baserunners is the bottom line though, isn't it? OBP is what it's all about. Get guys on base at a high rate and the runs will come.
  23. Castillo might be better than Young, but Castillo needs to get everyday at bats. That's why he's in AAA. Young was signed as "insurance" for Castillo, in case Castillo floundered. However, once Holt was named as the everyday LFer, that kind of threw a kink into the plan.
