  1. That may be the case, but you guys are making judgments rather quickly based on relatively little experience in the OF.
  2. I wasn't talking about the grand slam play. I was talking about his vaccination status. Yes, we strongly disagree on that. Duran may never improve his defense or amount to a solid big league player, but IMO, it won't be because of his attitude.
  3. This just seems so unfair to me. We will never know how many games might have had different outcomes if the visiting teams had been playing at full strength, but it could be the difference between the Jays making the playoffs or not. Imagine if by some off chance the Cards and the Jays meet in the WS and the Cards have to play without 2 of their best players.
  4. It doesn't take much for people to turn on players or to figuratively enshrine them into the HOF. It's really a shame because there was a lot of optimism surrounding Sale's stuff when he returned recently. This injury cannot be blamed on Sale being frail.
  5. I think Duran has gotten a bum rap on the whole poor attitude thing. As far as his play is concerned, it's far too early to make any kind of permanent assessment. I can agree with trading one of the two if the Sox see them both as being strictly left fielders.
  6. I almost feel like it's my obligation to come here and defend our beloved team, manager, GM, and owner included. It's been an extremely brutal 3 weeks, so I understand the criticism and the pessimism, but there's still a lot of baseball to be played.
  7. In hindsight, the Sale extension looks bad. There are still 2 years for him to make good on it though.
  8. Keep the faith people. Keep the faith.
  9. Things could change in another couple of weeks, but at the moment, I disagree.
  10. That's so unlike you Moon, especially for Duran, who has had all of 245 PAs at the major league level.
  11. Ha. Kind of hard to know whether to be excited for Franchy or disappointed for Wacha.
  12. I do not believe that Henry is not concerned with the state of the Red Sox. There's a plan, for sure. I don't think it's a plan that most fans like, but there's definitely a plan.
  13. Amen Notin. I am officially putting you in my new posse.
  14. Last night's game was a start. The point was made that if the Sox can get a lead through 6, and that's currently a big if, then Schreiber, Whitlock, and Houck are as good as any at the back of the pen. We need Devers, JD, and Story to get healthy. Kike too. And on top of that, we need Bogaerts and JD to be the run producers that they can be. Red Sox Stats @redsoxstats · 1h Martinez has 15 RBI in his last 40 games. Bogaerts has 11 RBI in his last 40 games. They are both having fine years overall, but their inability to be run producers this year has been the Number 1 strain on this team, at least up until the crippling injury situation. RBI Percentage J.D. Martinez 2018 19.8% 2019 16.8% 2021 17.1% 2022 12.1% Xander Bogaerts 2018 19.7% 2019 19.0% 2021 14.2% 2022 11.3%
  15. I preach the long term interest of the team in balance with the short term interest. I have never been in favor of prioritizing one to the extent of sacrificing the other. The priority is long term sustainability, but again, not at the expense of contending this year.
  16. Are you not hopeful about 2023?
  17. I like this. Though their season isn't over yet.
  18. Interestingly enough, I think I was more on board with his extension than I was with the original trade.
  19. I am confident in saying that I won't like either deal.
  20. I'm all for giving hefty raises to the everyday commoners who work for the team. Giving hefty raises to the entitled players who are already make more in one game than most people make in a year, not so much.
  21. Bloom was hired to build teams in which the long term is balanced with the short term. Dombrowski kind of blew out the long term outlook of this team. Building it back takes time, roughly 5 years. In the meantime, Bloom should be doing exactly what he's been doing. He hasn't been perfect, but IMO, his strategy is spot on. Right now, things are going terribly wrong, but last year's team was very competitive, as is this year's team when healthy. IMO, once the long term sustainability goal is reached, we will see more of the "big market" type moves that most people want to see, though I'm not sure if Bloom will ever sign a player to a 10+ year contract.
  22. No doubt, just because an agent asks for something doesn't mean he'll get it. Soto wants his AAV to be one of the highest in MLB though, along with the highest total contract. Not saying he'll get $645M, but some GM will likely meet Soto's criteria on those two counts. I have no idea what Judge is asking for. A crazy amount, whatever it is.
  23. As always, I protest starting this thread halfway through the 2022 season.
