  1. Agreed. I really don't have any issues with OB other than he is not Orsillo. It could be a lot worse.
  2. Made no sense to me. I wonder if they are regretting letting him go.
  3. If the Padres win a WS in the next 3 years, it will have been worth it. Yes, these types of moves are really exciting for the fan base, but there's no guarantee and they don't come without consequences.
  4. It was not a good thing, IMO. That's not the type of thing that you air publicly. You suck it up and you play your hardest every day.
  5. 100%. I was very happy when the deadline passed and JD and Eovaldi were still on the team. There's a lot of work for the team to do, but they have a shot.
  6. I have not heard that. While it's possible, I have a hard time buying it.
  7. I will gladly and proudly carry the title of most pro-Bloom poster on here.
  8. Fair. I think we all, myself included, should try to stop taking shots at those who don't agree with us. While Denny's post didn't really bother me other than my strong disagreement to it, we don't want this turning into an 'us versus them' situation like you mentioned in a previous post. Sawxheads 2.0.
  9. I will put you in charge of that. You are, after all, the Ascended Master.
  10. It's about what I expected. I wouldn't say it was necessarily good, but I definitely wouldn't say it was bad either. I hate losing Vazquez. But outside of that, I think that both the present and the future have been upgraded a little bit.
  11. Supposedly, Bloom set the asking prices for JD, Eovaldi, and others high. And rightly so, IMO.
  12. Coming from the supposed team leader, this is not a good thing for Bogaerts to say. He was being honest, and yes, you can acknowledge that losing Vazquez hurts, but don't sell your remaining teammates short. Show some confidence in yourself and your remaining teammates to be good enough to get the job done.
  13. Post of the day.
  14. In my defense, I have acknowledged mistakes made by Bloom. His overall philosophy, however, is spot on.
  15. Of course having a strong farm system doesn't guarantee anything. It's only my opinion, but building a strong franchise starts with building a strong farm system. Everything else a team does should revolve around that.
  16. I still don't understand why NESN parted with Orsillo to begin with.
  17. True. Orsillo would be worth it though.
  18. Bloom was never going to make a blockbuster type of deal this season, even if we hadn't had the awful July that we had. The current team is improved, if only slightly, and the future outlook is improved, if only slightly. The fine line that Bloom was walking was a tough one. Perhaps the best moves will end up being the ones not made. The onus is on the existing players to do their jobs.
  19. Hosmer is not a game changer, but he does represent an upgrade. With San Diego eating nearly all of his salary, Hosmer has virtually no risk attached to him. If Hosmer plays well, the Sox can take their time with Casas. If Hosmer stinks, trade or DFA him with little loss.
  20. We could only wish.
  21. I am happy to see that both remain with the team.
  22. I fully endorse this post Max.
  23. As someone who is not invested in the Padres, I can say good for them. If it's not going to be the Sox winning the WS, I will pull for them. That said, if I'm recalling correctly, I believe I heard that the Padres traded away 29 of their prospects in the past few days including many of the top ones. I may very well be mistaken on the numbers, but their farm system took a big hit. While I understand that one of the reasons for developing a strong farm system is to use the prospects in trade, I would shudder if this were the Sox. The Padres also added a good amount of payroll. I will be interested to see how this affects the Padres a few years down the road. There are times when a team has to 'go for it', but I think the going for it can sometimes be taken to an unnecessary extreme for something that is not even remotely guaranteed.
