I don't see Friedman as the type of GM who would grasp at straws or make a reactionary type move. Still, trading for Gallo is a curious move. Not that the rankings mean much, but while the Padres improved immensely, they are still ranked as the 5th favorite (by whom, I don't know) to win the World Series.

I cannot understand why on earth the Dodgers would want Gallo, much less give up any kind of prospect for him.

Not really. Bloom knows what he is doing. Just because some moves don't work out, it doesn't mean that a GM is over his head or close to it. All GMs make mistakes.

I'm not liking the 10 year part, but the $210M, IMO, is a fair starting point for Devers. These kinds of deals get done when the player is willing to leave some money on the table.

I really like Mancini to the Astros. It's hard not to root for him and it's nice to see him getting a legitimate shot at a WS. Good for the Astros and good for Mancini.

Both. I actually love the shade of yellow on the Sox' city connect jerseys, but I don't think that color scheme has any business being on a Red Sox uniform.

I don't think he walks on water. He has made mistakes. That said, I am a much, much greater fan of Bloom and his philosophy than I was of Dombrowski.

It may or may not work out. Either way, Bloom is far from being over his head.

It's a very difficult tight rope to walk. The priority is still long term sustainability, but it's also tough to give up on a season when there's still a fairly good chance the Sox can make the playoffs. Last night, I was reminded of the 2021 Braves. At the deadline, they were hovering around 2-3 games below .500. We all know how that turned out.
