I don't ever count a team out (or in) until the math says that they are out. That said, I think that we really just need to play .500 ball against the Yankees. If we do that in our remaining games, it will make it very difficult for them to catch us. That said, let us not forget the collapse of 2011. One game at a time. Let's not get ahead of ourselves.

There are not lots of Dombrowski haters. I hate what he has done to our farm system. That's no secret. You, yourself, agree with my opinion of that. I don't think anyone has remotely criticized him for the overall work of putting our current team together. Maybe a move here or a move there, but we are all thrilled with our current team.

It's funny, because I used to always say the same thing about Cashman's pick ups. It seemed like every player that he added miraculously had a career revival after joining the Yankees. Not so much recently.

I just can't fathom that kind of money and # of years for any player. There was a time when there were a select handful of players (ARod in his prime is one of them, and Mookie would certainly be another) that I would have broken the bank for, but I have since changed my opinion on even that select few.

Should I be embarrassed that when I heard the Sox were bringing up Tony Renda, I said who? He seems to have pretty decent numbers. I completely agree about Mookie at 2B.

I certainly hope that this does not become a regular thing. It's not that I don't think that Mookie can handle it, it's that I think it's extremely risky in terms of injury. My understanding is that Lin is injured as well.

Rick Freaking Porcello What else needs to be said about last night's game? That game was very entertaining, but in a much different way than Thursday's game was. We already have the split. Let's go for the kill!

LOL Emp. I wasn't hoping for it, but truth be told, I probably would have enjoyed it if it happened. Just not at the head. That said, it was more important to close out that game and get the win. You don't want to go messing with stuff like that and risk putting a runner on base.

Seattle has been playing well above their Pythagorean W-L record for a while. Their slide was bound to happen. Houston, OTOH, is 6 games below their Pythagorean W-L. Based on run differential, I don't see the As catching the 'Stros. Houston is a far better team. It's those random 1 run games that no one wants to believe me about.

There are definitely base running outs that are boneheaded. I don't argue that. My contention is, however, that most of the base running outs can be attributed to aggressiveness. -

Cora said that Moreland is healthy, but after last night's performance, he is going with Pearce. In other words, he is riding the hot hand. The odd thing is, even though I am not a believer in the hot hand, and the overall numbers favor Moreland, I tend to agree with Cora's decision. I guess it's a 'don't mess with what worked so well' feeling.

He has also reportedly said that he has no desire to sign an extension early. Translation: He is out for the biggest contract he can get (all about the money). I guess that's his right, but it's always disheartening to me.

Yes, but not 'often'. When Dombrowski builds his own strong farm system for the Sox, he will then have the right to do with it whatever he chooses.
