    Remaining strength of schedule: The lucky Yankees still have the second easiest remaining schedule at .470 while the Sox have the 5th toughest remaining schedule at .515. Of further note, per Frangraphs, the Yankees playoff chances are down to 99.9%. They were at 100%. LOL The Sox' chances remain at 100%.

    I am impressed that you were able to pull that out of your memory box. That line drive HR from Devers last night had almost no height.

    If he's virtually free, I don't see why not. That said, I took a quick look at his defensive numbers and I had to giggle. His UZR/150 at 3B in 2015 was -124.5. I thought to myself, I don't think I've ever seen a number that bad. Then I looked a little farther down, and his UZR/150 at SS this season is -255.4! Holy cow! OK, both samples are extremely, extremely small, but I found that rather funny. The things that keep me entertained...

    I would not be surprised if the Yankees make another move. They have been scuffling for a little over a month now, while the Red Sox have been on a torrid pace. I wouldn't call them desperate, but I think they feel a sense of urgency. I am fairly certain that Dombrowski will add a reliever before the deadline.

    I have to admit that I haven't really followed him all that closely, but I have the impression that he is punk and a guy that is kind of full of himself. Just my impression. Either way, I don't see the need for Harper.

    I'm no doctor, but when I heard that Judge would be back in 3 weeks, I thought that sounded rather optimistic.

    Absolutely. I remember his interview after winning the ALCS in 2013 about the pressure he felt. - "I thought I was going to throw up."

    I have no clue as to what the Rays are doing with their pitching. Your guess is as good as mine.

    It's a good pen. It gets far more criticism than it deserves. I would like to see another reliever added, which I think we will, but if Dombrowski does nothing else, I'm good with that as well.

    Yup. With that information, Cora's decision makes 100% sense. Cora did state that even if Moreland were healthy, he would not have used him as a pinch hitter.

    Do we know that the outcomes would have been any different had Cora made a different decision?

    I questioned that decision as well. Not that I necessarily have a problem with Kimbrel getting 4 outs, but I don't think it was needed in that situation.

    There is so much going on with the players (and the stats) that we are completely unaware of. I don't always understand his decisions, but I know that he has some good rationale for making them. It's also interesting to note that Cora purposely did not divulge this information so that he wouldn't give the Twins any advantage in bullpen usage.

    I thought the exact same thing as I was watching the game. The opposing batter has terrible numbers against Kimbrel, but nonetheless, Barnes was dealing and there were no runners on base, much less in scoring position. I would have left Barnes in. I'm not saying that that's the reason that Kimbrel blew the save, but I would have saved Kimbrel the pitches and the 1/3 of an inning. Interesting decision.

    What an amazing DP, on both parts. I am glad that Pearce didn't get stepped on during that play.
