  1. OTOH, I much prefer the 5:00 start time of yesterday's game. Tonight's game won't be over before midnight. I have to wake up at 5 a.m.
  2. I am running Price right back out there for his Game 6 start, if needed.
  3. Obviously, we would have liked to win 2 at home to open the series, but I'm feeling pretty good about having won one. I think it's very likely that we win at least one in Houston, then as you said, the advantage swings back to us.
  4. ^^This 100%. My sentiments exactly.
  5. I go to the game threads before the game starts and after the game ends, usually the next day. Emotions are running too high during the game.
  6. I think we have a very good shot at winning 2 in Houston. That said, if we win one, we get the series back to Boston. That should happen, at the very minimum.
  7. There's a thought.
  8. OTOH, there is Doofus Boone, who probably is at fault more often than not.
  9. Well said Max. Cora is not always right, and no manager is, but his moves seem to work out way more often than not. He has had me scratching my head a few times, but with the success that he's had, he gets the benefit of the doubt, even if a certain move goes awry.
  10. Maybe managers should roll with the idea of the 'opener' and start using their pitchers backwards. Let Kimbrel pitch the first inning, Barnes pitch the second inning, a combination of middle relievers pitch the 3rd, and let Sale take it from there.
  11. Kimbrel is no Koji. The drama in the 9th inning is sometimes maddening, but he typically gets the job done.
  12. I have no problem with that type of missed call. It happens.
  13. It's 2-3-2. The Sox only have to win 1 out of 3 to get the series back to Fenway. I am confident that will happen, at the very least. I am also feeling pretty good about being able to win 2 out of the 3 in Houston.
  14. I don't follow the Astros closely enough, but if they have a good farm, there is no cliff. They likely won't be able to sustain the level that they're at now, but with a strong farm, they can replenish lost players. They should be able to stay competitive.
  15. IMO, the 8th inning was the inning to get something done, with the top of the order batting. They went down quickly in 1-2-3 fashion. Once that happened, I really didn't feel good about our chances of winning that game. Tonight's a new night though!
  16. On the topic of Sale, I hope the Sox do not re-sign him to a monster type deal. Huge contracts to position players are bad enough. Huge contracts to aging pitchers is asking for trouble.
  17. It really doesn't matter what the thread is supposed to be about. Just about every thread inevitably gets off track at some point or another anyway. Which is fine by me.
  18. That is my logic in starting Price in Game 2. Makes perfect sense to me.
  19. You may be right that the umps are doing the best they can. I have never umpired a game, so I can't say that they could do any better. That said, I do believe the lack of accountability is a problem.
  20. No time like the present to win our first ALCS game in 2018. Get it done boys!
  21. Well, I hate to break it to you and the rest of the dads on this board, but dads are geeks. I think it's like a law of physics or something, that when you become a dad, you also become a geek. Not that there's anything wrong with that.
  22. Doesn't that say something about our umpires though? I understand getting it wrong on the bang-bang plays. But they miss too many that are not bang-bang. And if the missed call is a bang-bang play, the replay is likely to be inconclusive. Hold the umpires more accountable.
  23. No doubt. It's amazing how many people associated with Francona are managing. As much as I like Cora, Francona is still the man.
  24. That's the spirit! And FTR, I am a member of that club. But I like Price. Hate his contract though.
