  1. We need Don Orsillo back. That is all.
  2. Cora's use of Josh Taylor for one batter in yesterday's game, after there were already 2 outs in the inning, is just one example of Cora putting his players in the best position to succeed. It was a tie game, so it was certainly a high enough leverage situation where Taylor would not think he was just being used for mop up duty. Taylor only needed to get one out, which might seem like a small feat, but I really felt like Taylor walked off the field after his one out feeling really confident and good about himself. Good management by Cora.
  3. I read a tweet this morning about the run differentials of the top teams. Red Sox +26 KC +1 LAA +3 Sea -8 Oak -12 Cle +2 Based on play so far, the Sox deserve to be at the top of the W-L record. Some of the other teams, not so much.
  4. Based on Kike's career and recent season numbers, there is no way he should be the lead off hitter. That said, Cora really has a way with his players, which IMO, is far more important than his on field decisions. Kike in the lead off spot is working, for now. Maybe not so much for Kike personally, but the Red Sox offense is #1 in the AL in most categories. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. There may come a time when Kike needs to be moved down in the order, but as long as we're winning, I'm good with leaving him there.
  5. I have been saying this since before the season started. In fact, I expressed my surprise that most people thought we should go with 13 pitchers. LOL The bench (and a couple of starters) that we have are so versatile that Cora can cover things very well with his 2 non-catching subs. It does help to keep the bench players more engaged, as you mentioned. But more importantly, I figured that in most of our games, especially early on, Cora would need to cover roughly 4 innings with the pen. Having the extra reliever allows Cora more flexibility and also helps him to keep the pen from getting overused.
  6. Whatever it takes to win baseball games!
  7. The Dodgers are currently in a league of their own. Dodgers and Padres playing against each other = great baseball.
  8. Keep trying to convince yourself.
  9. ^^This. I still see the Yankees winning the division, unfortunately. But it won't be the cakewalk that some Yankees fans thought it would be.
  10. There is definitely some disconnect in the Yankees organization. Regardless of who the decisions are coming from, the decisions don't seem to be communicated well enough to the players.
  11. I get that. My point with the commercials is that, IMO, there is nothing wrong with the game itself in terms of the length. Leave it the way it is.
  12. This is why I have always thought that carrying 14 pitchers made the most sense. Our starters are not going to regularly go more than 5 or 6 innings, and having the extra relievers will help the pen from getting overused. Also, at some point in the summer, we will hopefully get Sale back.
  13. I wouldn't want to play 15 inning games every night, but I like those epic 15+ extra inning games. The Red Sox / Dodgers World Series Game 3? Good stuff. Of course, that game would have been much better had we won, but knowing the ultimate outcome makes that loss easier to take.
  14. 1. I am one of the few who kind of likes watching pitchers come to bat. That said, I do think that MLB needs to go with the universal DH. Or as a lesser-liked option, eliminate the DH altogether. Just make it consistent for both leagues. 2. I don't love the pitch clock either. While I would love for the Red Sox pitchers to get the ball and pitch, I like the cat and mouse that goes on between pitcher and batter. I like the throw overs to 1B. I like the mental aspect of the game. I 100% agree that the problem with the length of the game is with the commercials. 5. The 3 batter rule is one of the few recent changes that I like. Maybe because it eliminates all those commercials that go along with each pitching change. 7. Blackout rules must go. I think everyone agree with that.
  15. No and no. Also, no to moving the mound back a foot. In fact, I'd be more inclined to raising the mound back to where it was back in the day (60s?) than I would be to lowering it or moving it back.
  16. As much as I dislike opener and bullpen games, and even though there is a level of intrigue to this idea, it's a big fat NO for me. I think the intent is to try to bring back the importance/relevance of the starting pitcher, and I agree with the intent. But what about games is which the starting pitcher legitimately does not have anything, and has to be removed in the first or second inning? Penalizing a team's offense in that situation doesn't make any sense.
  17. All of the discussion about dates is cracking me up. Red Sox fans are not right. Not that there's anything wrong with that.
  18. Awesome. That'd be great to get him in the booth with Jerry.
  19. Rationally, I know that the outcomes of these games don't revolve around my behavior. But the Sox won their first 3 games against the Rays when I was out of town and unable to post on Talksox. So irrationally, I'm not taking any chances of jinxing anything! And that's just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to my superstitious Red Sox behavior. LOL You are the man, Max! It's been mentioned many times, but I really think that Cora is a huge factor in the way these guys are playing.
  20. Doofus Boone
  21. On a bright note for the Yankees, and this is sincere, Sanchez looked good behind the plate.
  22. As a Red Sox fan, I can't help but to appreciate Boone as your manager. That said, I wonder how much of his decision making is coming down from the FO.
  23. Yankees fans throwing things on the field while the Rays players were on the field is a terrible look. Their anger is misplaced. It's not the Rays they should be throwing things at, it's their own players. Not that I'm condoning that behavior, but you get my point.
