  1. A very very depressing read. But a good one for anyone who believes sports owners give a crap about their customers or their communities.
  2. So we are now arguing about whether a 78-84 team can be as good as an 81-81 team? Isn't that kinda like arguing for Verdugo's taking a pitch for a ball that Betts might have fouled off for a strike? or the classic argument for JBJ's strikeouts being more valuable than hitting into double-plays?
  3. Again, in court, you can only be found guilty or not guilty. You cannot be found 'innocent'. Being found not guilty means only that: you were found not guilty. Furthermore, this is the entertainment business promoting a kids game. You want your kid running around in a Bauer uniform? an OJ uniform? Maybe a Franco uniform (after all, he hasn't been found guilty of anything either).
  4. Ah yes. Remember the good ole days? When we got to discuss the virtues of signing Ohtani, Yamamoto, Boggaerts, Betts ... and now we have ... Moore? Hey wasn't he the guy who lost the title to Foreman? I didn't even know he played baseball.
  5. as a matter of law, you cannot be proven 'innnocent'. Charges were dropped. I don't care what he does in the sack with a hooker; as a sports fan, I'm more concerned with crap like throwing the ball into the stands as Tito is coming out for it.
  6. Longing for 84 wins! That is truly the sign if not the definition of mediocrity. Looks like the FO has sold their new product.
  7. Then why aren't you listing them if they are so easy to find?
  8. Verdugo, McGuire, Pham, ... But I guess you're still hoping for Franco.
  9. Yup. All the RS need is for each player to produce what players making twice as much do. No other team is as uniquely poised for success.
  10. Have to say, it's a lot more interesting listening to discussions of editing posts on iPhones than to what the FO is doing.
  11. exactly
  12. C'mon, John. You KNOW Franco's going to be available at a HUGE discount.
  13. It's not Henry's 660 million investment he doesn't care about. It's his customers. He apparently has convinced himself that they are morally obliged to throw money at him even for a mediocre product. What a lot of us life-long customers want is simple: we want him to improve the product. We don't (or I don't) give a rat's behind how much money he makes or loses.
  14. https://www.audacy.com/weei/sports/red-sox/kennedy-liar-if-you-say-red-sox-ownership-isnt-committed?fbclid=IwAR19-DSmNwMvSzeIv8bwggLCwS-YaDaaIeUanwt2UaBl4Z1fOiu8gWCpHfI I think Kennedy needs to learn the difference between "you're a liar" and "you are not correct." In this situation, only one of the parties can be guilty of lying.
  15. Because there was no need. Check the attendance figures from the late 70s, early 80s. Dropped more than a half-million, even below league average, until 1986.
  16. See you there. One thing for sure: no one will be listening in on the RS, since no SeaDogs fan is really going to give a cr*p about them.
  17. Brslow: "The timing didn’t work in our favor thus far but, again, I think it’s worth reiterating that I wouldn’t say this is predictive or indicative of how we intend to operate going forward." Good God. WTF does this even mean? "It is worth repeating thaat I would not say that ..." It sounds like the kind of sentence one had to construe in order to pass a language exam. Or maybe in a Latin grammarbook on the sequence of tenses.
  18. Well, you're right. But it's pretty hard to avoid it when discussing that state--one of 3 I've never been to. And don't plan on correcting that.
  19. Well, as long as you're white, mildly racist, have no chance of getting pregnant, live on social security, and don't care about education, I'm sure it's fine.
  20. None. And once they were granted immunity, they sang like canaries. Cora did NOT throw his players under the bus, and spoke very frankly about his own experiences in Puerto Rico and the matter of sign-stealing, which was accepted as a normal part of the game.
  21. As an LAClips fan, I hate the concept: a special section where fans of opposing teams or wearing other team's gear are not allowed? So management is essentially encouraging boorish behavior among dead-beat fans. Why? To me, it's the worst part of going to games live.
  22. dude. You were the one who brought up Landis as the pinnacle of morality.
  23. He also would have been able to maintain his high moral stature without having to worry about, you know, those black people.
  24. I think they're written on his meds description.
