  1. Yup (although his location is at times alarming!)
  2. Chris Sale ... is not a good pitcher.
  3. Yeah, I don't see anything in Casas I would call progress. He seems to me like a poor man's Michael Chavis
  4. I don't know. His competitor was pretty handy with the stick, no?
  5. Gosh. Who would have guessed that I have never heard of Verdugo or Turner? Thanks for straightening this out for me.
  6. Average attendance? dWAR? Yards After Catch? Save percentage? 3-pt. percentage? Wunderlich test?
  7. I think the problem is scheduling. Because so far, and for the rest of the year as well, the RS are scheduled to play the majority of games against teams better than they are! It's just not fair.
  8. Anyone who as been a sox fan since the 50s doesn't need any further conditioning.
  9. Isn't it like the movies? The huge salaries are part of what draws people in. And NO ONE in the audience has ever said: "Well, I would have preferred Brando or DeNiro in that role, but they're too expensive, so let's see what the kid just out of CalArts can do." The entertainment business is not run on the same principles that apply to other businesses. Look at the cash Dan Snyder gets for being a total creep while running his organization into the ground.
  10. Despite his experience handling balls outside of home.
  11. I liked Bogey. A lot. ... But since I am a fan, not a fantasy-player or a GM, I don't care what his price is.
  12. I spend the winter in LA. Which wasn't habitable this winter either.
  13. Ah! Right! (Yesterday was kinduv a discombobulating day.) Aren't Milwaukee and Minnesota in the same state?
  14. I guess it's my responsibility until they lose?
  15. Then you didn't listen to Joe Castiglione the other night (but what does that old school fart know about baseball!), or the fans who paid tribute to him (but who gives a cr*p about a bunch of no-account pink hats?), or Devers (who clearly knows nothing about CERA or xWAR), or the other players on the RS (who know s*** about team chemistry).
  16. Well, the RS pitching is back in the groove.
  17. Or maybe they started one and, instead of responding, some insensitive poster started a second one. And maybe the original poster was deeply hurt and traumatized, and now feels that his services are unappreciated and perhaps has renounced starting game threats at all because it's possible he didn't understand the conventions of starting game threads in the first place but then maybe he thinks Scr*w that! he vows to be there for 4/20 and if he doesn't get there first he'll celebrate that holiday anyway. Huh huh huh? Had you thought of that?
  18. Don't be ridiculous. Those two haven't sung together in decades.
  19. I don't understand why they're not scoring runs. Only 5 of their starters are hitting under .200. (there were six a couple of days ago, but Duran ruined that).
  20. Seems like a lot of fans, a lot of RS players, and certainly the radio announcers are pretty demonstrative in their support of Vaz. But what do Joe Castiglione or R. Devers know about baseball or team chemistry. (I assume the ovation Vaz got was the same that, say, JH or CB get when they show up for games, even of different sports.)
  21. Too many sub-.200 hitters.
  22. But when the RS suck, as they do this year, even luxury seats with hooker attendants wouldn't fill the place.
  23. I don't know. That's what they said in the 70s, and then every new park wanted to model itself after Fenway. To me, it's as much a part of the game as any of the players: when I've been, which isn't often, it's to be be in Fenway. I doubt the RS would be selling out if they had a cookie-cutter stadium (with great sightlines) out in the burbs.
