  1. David Arias!!! Very, very cool. They new even then that he might be special. Thanks for that link.
  2. This is where I guess i should be venting. Trade anyone of our prospects (not currently with the club) to get that totrp if you think we need one. I think that we already have our number 1 though. Just don't trade this kid! He is special. i haven't given this a lot of thought but right off the top, i can't think of anybody that I have seen in a Sox uniform that looks like he might have more to offer than this kid. Size, strength, power, speed. There is no reason to rush him. We are in pretty good shape. When they decide what to do with him and where he can help us the most, I cannot wait to see what he can do. he is as ready to go as any of our prospects.
  3. That's about as well as I can do these says. i can't even give anybody hell anymore!
  4. Believe it or not, every now and then, these guys actually try to have a little fun here. If your feelings are hurt, that's one thing, but if you truly have any question about the baseball acumen of most of the regulars who have posted here for awhile, you are really mistaken.
  5. It really is all good. I'll admit it - I am on the Moncada bandwagon. i like Benintendi a great deal but he is built very much like Jerry Remy was in his younger days. I think that he has the potential to be very good. i think that Moncada has the ability to be better than that. I would be stunned if they moved Benitendi and at least didn't do something with Moncada. I understand that Benintendi's path to the big club looks clearer than Moncada's. I guess I just have a problem with that.
  6. Pretty sad don't you think when you have a kid as talented as Moncada and blocking him is a choice you make.
  7. They don't operate in a vacuum. They actually have no need to even consider making a Benintendi move at this time. it is only fan yammering when it comes to moving this kid at this time.
  8. If this were true, Moncada would already have been playing a different position by now. It is not just about filling gaps at all. It is all about drafting and developing the best available athletes. Moncada is a once in a generation potential athlete. Benintendi is potentially a very good player. There is one hell of a difference.
  9. I agree with your point of view here. To date, we have heard not even a whisper about moving Benintendi. All fan conjecture. I don't think that these two prospects need to be treated the same necessarily but I do think that sooner as opposed to later they do have to start thinking about what they will do with Moncada going forward. Easy for Benintendi- no thought required. Moncada is a different story but he may be on a different level than Benintendi. When you see them in Portland, I will be interested to hear about your first impressions. I have already expressed mine and they are pretty clear.
  10. You and I and Spud know that batting averages, rbi's , and pitcher's win loss records as well as era's as things from a bygone era. When is Dombrowski going to wake up and figure this out? ( Just a joke a folks - it's all good.) I like our new GM!
  11. Pleases me to see that I'm not alone in thinking that there is more to this than just a simple Benintendi move. I'll say it one more time, if there is any thought at all to moving Benintendi, I would be very surprised if Moncada was to stay put. I suppose it is possible that the thinking is that Benintendi can make the plays at the ml level and that Moncada is just not ready. I would still be surprised if either was moved right away. That being said, you just never know what might happen from a trade perspective.
  12. I really hope that you are right. he deserves the next opportunity.
  13. Ok - all is well - I guess that my primary point is that I think that Moncada is the bigger prize here. My opinion I'll admit. I think that outside of playing a position that makes sense to the franchise, he is our top prospect going forward. I get the fact that you fill a space based upon need, I just don't ultimately see the sense in Moncada being used as a second baseman. It sounds as though many posters expect Benintendi to be a part of our outfield at least by 2017. if that is the case, it would just amaze me if a potential star like Moncada was playing in the minors so that he could learn a position that he will not be playing for some time in Boston. I'm suggesting that if Benintendi gets moved early (which I don't want to see happen), it would make more sense to trade Moncada as opposed to letting him hang around in our minor league system until there is a place to use him. If Moncada gets traded, we will all be very sad.
  14. I guess you must be assuming that I don't know that Benintendi is an outfielder and that Moncada is a second baseman. I do. You obviously missed my point. Moncada is every bit as ready to play at the same level as Benintendi. You obviously missed my point. You are all excited about moving up a prospect while at the same time you would leave quite possibly a better prospect in the minors stuck in a position that he won't be playing in Boston for quite some time. Point being - If you move a prospect like Benintendi up I would think that you might start searching for a way to get your best prospect on the right path soon.
  15. I don't see the need to rush Benintendi at all. If the Red Sox decide to move him up to the big club, before Sept. at the earliest, I would be pretty surprised. It also brings up the question of what about Moncada? Offensively, and from a physical perspective, he is as ready if not more so than Benintendi. Hard to imagine Benintedi in the immediate future plans and not Moncada. Sorry for questioning the logic of the organization, but Moncada at second base just doesn't make sense to me. If he was behind Benintendi well then maybe - but he isn't.
  16. I agree with you here. I think that Dombrowski knows what we really need. Everybody knows what we really need. Safe to say that he did not see Wilkerson really filling any need now or later. I think that it is calculated. Something else is going to happen.
  17. I grew up watching the big O and dreading it when we played them. 6'5" and as good a bb player as I ever saw. Because it is a deadend fight, I don't get into the comparison of eras much, but many and I mean many of the stars of the 60's and 70's would be stars today.
  18. I get the fact that it is not a good idea to rush prospects. As good as Benintendi might wind up being, I can't wait to see what the Sox plan is for Moncada. His physical attributes combined with his baseball ability could be something very special. Size, strength, talent, and overall fitness.
  19. I'm not even a Farrell supporter but he really has done nothing that comes to warrant being fired. Pretty sure that DD understands what is going on. So far, his moves have seemed rationale and consistent. Firing Farrell because players have been injured and some on the pitching staff have simply sucked would be an irrational move. Many of us probably feel that his in game managing is suspect but his loyalty to players and the fact that he is willing to make some changes should also be a part of the gig. Like him or not, he is a professional and apparently above a lot of the crap that goes along with the job. The inmates are not running the asylum.
  20. No one is or has suggested that he is the answer to the left field situation but for the present he deserves to be out there as much as anybody else after Holt.
  21. Sorry but Brentz is still breathing.
  22. so about Lucroy - We need pitching but nothing outstanding is available at present. Lucroy would certainly look like a good addition but there are only so many catchers that you can pile up in Pawtucket. Guess Vazquez's future doesn't look so certain? Leon - no? Release Hanigan? Swihart no longer a candidate for the job at all? This certainly would be a case where doing nothing looks like the better option to me unless Vazquez was put on the trading block.
  23. What it tells me is that we could be getting top heavy with management types or that Willis might be on the clock.
  24. Hanley cuts that throw off and odor is out at third. Better throw to the plate and our catcher doesn't have to work quite so hard.
