  1. There really is something about "too much information" leads to "paralysis analysis" on occasion. Ask the greatest hitters of all time what studying advanced metrics or whatever did for them, this is what you might get. The Tony Perez secret to hitting - I see the ball, I hit the ball.
  2. Hamilton is gradually becoming special. Speed defines him I guess but the bat is alive right now. He needs to in the lineup. If things continue the way that they are currently going, Grissom is going to have to prove beyond a doubt that he belongs in Boston before he gets there.
  3. I think that you are absolutely right. He has worked too hard not to be right where he is. Look how long it took him to break the unwritten rule about the third time through the lineup. Maturity has helped. He's always had the stuff.
  4. Sorry - I guess I was looking closer to the starting group. I'm becoming a senior citizen. When they got down 6-2 last night, I chose to finish reading Yaz's segment from Posnanski's book before turning out the light. Ouch!
  5. Is there such a thing? Pretty sure that what is normal where I am is not particularly considered normal to the people of SoCal.
  6. If hamilton continues to hit, I'm thinking his name should be listed in there some where.
  7. I thought Duran was the weird guy. I'm going to have to get to know them better.
  8. thank you notin - I've been away for awhile. Maybe I need to change my approach - nope not likely to happen.
  9. Absolutely there is no place in my plan for anyone who might potentially be a big time hitter for us.lol I think that most here understand me fairly well but for you I will try to be more specific.
  10. I love young, healthy, tough players who can run. I would not trade Hamilton. Grissom may still be an asset. he is just a kid. I'm not worried at all about second base. Yoshida and to be honest with you Story would be on the table if anybody was interested. For a couple of years, Sale was the target for some due to injuries. As good as Story might be, I am for the guys that are in the lineup and don't want to come out.
  11. Duran is looking like the real deal.
  12. In my little delusional world, athletes the likes of Chris Sale would be kept around in some capacity forever.
  13. Just the other day it seems, some here wanted to see Duran traded. Proves that it is pretty tough to make the right deal. Lot of luck involved in playing the trade game. There is no question that with the young quality players starting to pile up that something might have to be done. It's a big guessing game until you actually see them at the big league level for a period of time. Duran for sure is starting to look, sound, and play like a special player. Mayer and Teel? good problems to have.
  14. ...win lose or whatever, regardless of anything JH has or has not done, Willie Mays was the best I ever saw.
  15. It might be repetitive but he was the best I ever saw.
  16. I broke my personal boycott and watched them last night. I love the way this team runs the bases. it is an aggressive style of baseball that I grew up playing and loving to watch.
  17. This would have been my question exactly. Even with the injury, is bringing your "starting catcher" off the bench to fill in at second a good managerial move? Not in my world. There must have been someone else.
  18. A hippie is a life form that once was but no longer exists as we knew it. Try as they might, it just ain't coming back. Lots of fakes out there though. Most of us jut sort of grew up or maybe we just grew old.
  19. At his best, one of the best to ever play the game. 21/22 - a game that I will never forget.
  20. I was elated that he was signed and resigned. I like real winners even if they are just sitting in the dugout.
  21. I don't remember advocating for anything, but I was happy for sure that he was extended.
  22. I absolutely hated the Chris Sale trade on the day I heard about it and will continue to hate it going forward. In whose world do you trade pitching - even simply the potential for pitching at the level of Sale for a young untried not a very good fielding second baseman. If money was saved, how's that working out right now. There were and will always be other options to fill a void at second base than trading away any kind of pitching. I will admit though that I am huge sale fan. He did more for us simply by sitting in the dugout than some have done on the field.
  23. I haven't posted for awhile quite simply because there is very little about this team that excites me at all. I would say that anytime you have young pitching that is even adequate in this day and age maybe you should explore a longer term contract signing. Houck should have been locked up for some time now. Bello being locked up before a workhorse like Houck was silly in my estimation. I'd take a shot at Crawford as well. As for the extension to Rafaela, why? An excellent fielder for sure but what else really? Maybe some day just not to day.Oh yes and for the record, I would never have traded Sale for Grissom. Must be easier these days to find good pitching as opposed to second baseman (sarcasm). I should end this little rant by saying that if they try to lock up any of their young players now, maybe we should be happy that they are at least trying to do something as opposed to nothing.
  24. wait was this a nerve being struck? I have always believed that Houck should start - just for the record.
  25. I haven't posted for awhile and I'm a little confused. Is this the same web-site that some posters were adamant that Houck should be used coming in out of the bullpen? lol
