  1. I n Toros particular case, I think that he has done a good job at first. I think that putting him at third for whatever reason likely makes us weaker defensively. Even though it looks obvious to me that when Bregman returns, Mayer is going to second, I would have liked seeing him at third for now. Rather than shifting players around for whatever the reason might be, I would probably be that guy who would use Hamilton at second base as long as he is on the roster.
  2. When you are in the moment, often times as we all know decisions have to be made. Speculation comes with the hindsight. Posting on this site allows people to speculate. I just don’t like many of his in game decisions. That doesn’t mean that he shouldn’t be the coach of this team. It also doesn’t mean that I think that I could do his job. It simply means that I’m expressing my opinion on a forum board that I don’t care for some of the ways he does business.
  3. Hey now you’re getting a tad nasty which I really don’t care for. You seem to be great with respect to your debate style when people agree with you. I believe that Cora is an average manager.. I’m ok with that. Maybe it is good enough. Not that it matters but you are wrong with respect to what I do and do not know about coaching in general. If you knew just a little bit about me, I don’t think that you would be silly enough to make this comment. How about you continue on with your little cat fights with someone else.
  4. I guess I’m in that lonely camp that would not trade away any of our young players that have solid potential until we can at least figure out our best options with respect to positional play. Right now we have too many players trying to play too many different positions on a daily basis. The mix and match daily concept drives me nuts much like the concept of lefty righty lefty righty. It is a style of baseball that I just do not like.
  5. Is this “speculative blame concept” comment for me? It is my opinion that on numerous occasions Cora has left his relief pitchers in too long.. there is nothing speculative about my statement. Once again it is my opinion which I think is quite mild compared to many I have read here.
  6. What makes you think that I didn’t notice the good plays? I did. Cora should have had someone up and throwing when the second man got on. He has done this on many occasions. He has pulled his starters early many times and left his relievers in too long often. It isn’t a novel concept I hope to try to win games. He is an average manager in my opinion and I do know that my option to doesn’t amount to much.
  7. I had 0 problem with bringing him in at all. Leaving him in too long I did not like. He has done this many times. I’m not advocating for Captain Hook here but I would like like to see him give his team at least a chance to win.
  8. This team has many superfluous parts that we could live without but nobody likely would want most of them. Trading the guys that are mentioned often like Abreau, Duran , or any of our young guys would be a massive step backwards in my opinion. With Bergman and Yoshida coming back obviously some guys will be left without a place to play. Many of them we just could live without.
  9. With Wiessert or however you spell it loading the bases with no one up in the bullpen is just not ok. It is a game that they are throwing away. I’ll say what I have said before - Cora is an average manager at best. Maybe that is good enough. He handles people well. He is not responsible for all of the poor play that we are seeing. I don’t think that getting rid of him would really amount to much. But he is average.
  10. That is as numb a baserunning play as you could possibly see. Pathetic mistake.
  11. I wonder what Bergman is thinking. Outside of being incredibly well paid, why would he want to stay here?
  12. We all do I’d say. Some don’t agree with our opinions. I’m ok with that.
  13. Hey I like the guy and you folks are right that it appears that the players like him. I don’t think that he is anything other than an average in game manager. Maybe that is good enough. Someone has to take the blame as well as the credit here. It does go both ways but lately there seems to be a heck of a lot more bad play than good. From situational baseball, use of the pitching staff, base running and play in the field. I think that most people have noticed that we haven’t been very good for some time now. Oh, I forgot to mention hitting. I understand totally that he isn’t making the plays but he is the guy leading the way. It is his team on the field. Maybe the fact that he is a nice guy and his players like him is enough. I’m not real sure that a major change with respect to him alone would solve many of our problems.
  14. I’m not sure how I feel about a number of things relating to this team from Cora to Duran etc. With respect to Cora, I only can make a personal judgement by what I see on the field. He looks at best mediocre to me at what he does. Duran has always been a favorite of mine but If he isn’t making contact with the baseball and getting on base, he is just not as valuable as he could be. I don’t need everybody to try to hit the ball out of the park. I find myself getting excited when some of our guys hit a foul ball these days and that includes Duran.
  15. This is exactly how I see it. It seems like a majority of ML hitters have adopted the Dave Kingman approach of it’s a clout or an out. Every swing is a full out blast even if your body says you shouldn’t be doing it. I also agree that certainly in my case it has made the game much less enjoyable.
  16. It just continues to look like an accident to me when Story makes contact. I don’t care about his home runs, I just want to see him and others make contact and put the ball in play. When and why did baseball seem to move away from this novel concept? Just hit it! Put the ball in play.
  17. I understand and agree with you about how hard it is to hit a baseball but there have been many great hitters who were “see ball hit ball” kinds of hitters. For instance if Wade Boggs wanted to be a home run guy first hitter, what do you think 30 a year? This team needs runners on base not big time guessers trying to knock everything out of the park.
  18. I like to see Campbell back as well, but the big question is where does he play. On this current team, first base looks like the only option for him to be out there everyday.
  19. I do think that Story probably would do what the team asked him to do. I think that Cora would be unwilling to ask him. I think that that is ridiculous of course but I don’t think that he would risk potentially go down that ugly road again.
  20. As long as Story is on the roster and as long as Cora is the team’s manager, I’m betting (99%) that Story stays at short. Mayer will go to second and unless Campbell works out hard at first base, there will no place for him to be an everyday player.
  21. Your post pretty much sums up my feelings. I’ve been a fan since 1955, so I’m pretty sure that I’ll be one forever. I also would far prefer to watch the kids learn on the job understanding that there will be struggles. I hate watching the same poor performances over and over. The mistakes this team makes running the bases coupled with all of the errors makes me sick. It’s really poor baseball. Watching Beuhler last was extremely painful. I don’t care how over worked the bullpen might have been, personally I would have got him out of the game. The running errors by both Duran and Toro did it for me last night . I couldn’t take anymore. I’m ready for something new and I think that it has to start at the top. Everyone keeps talking about acquiring some decent free agents. Are there any decent ones out there who would even want to come to Boston without being grossly overpaid? Who’s signing up to join this crap show?
