  1. "Right there with the rest of the league" says a lot to me. SAD
  2. He doesn't care abut winning! it's all about the money.lol
  3. Many of us have been running up the white flag for awhile now. Anything is better than nothing. Not signing anyone who is remotely serviceable such as Paxton just seems like a continuation of a nothingness campaign. I'll take it all back if a signing or two takes place to sort of indicate that they really do give a s*** about this year's team. Sadly, and I freely admit, I really am losing interest in them daily. I hardly know the names of these guys anymore.
  4. Thankfully for him that it's all about the money i guess right. That's a sarcastic little snarky, Eddie from LB comment for those wondering. Any of these guys who can play just a little bit have to be wondering just like us what the hell is going on here. Trade these guys and give them a chance to win. Upper management can then start promoting the idea of a real youth rebuild.
  5. With Paxton signing with LA., why keep anybody that amounts to anything? It really is becoming sickeningly apparent that this team's direction is - who knows where. If it's about a total remake of a roster, let them go for prospects - Jansen, Martin, Devers, Story, and whoever else makes a competitive wage.
  6. God bless your family. Hope you thanked them for their support.
  7. Portland might be a good place for me. When Werner tries to justify high ticket prices regardless of the team's quality, my flesh feels flayed. I consider Fenway a beautiful piece of art but I don't really need to make that trip again. It is the quality of the team that justifies the price we pay. Also that entire area is in line for some big time redevelopment which is coming. I just don't know exactly what that means for the Ball club financially. The hospital district is going to be seeing some change but pretty sure that that does not reflect on Red Sox ownership although it will likely help make the area in general more attractive.
  8. And in the meantime we have quite the team to watch I guess.
  9. Personally I guess since it looks as though nothing of any great significance is going to be done during this off season, I really hope that they will move quickly to promote some of the supposedly can't miss prospects that we have. We all know that in the past our prospects have been on slow bake before getting anything resembling a shot at the big leagues. I'm going to need something to keep my interest level up just a bit. I understand how some here feel that in some instances moving a player up too soon can be a career breaker. I think that I am over that. Give me something to look forward to... - Teel, Anthony, Mayer(when recovered) anybody else that can catch and throw.
  10. not sure about this one but i see lots of bull nuts hanging off trailer hitches.
  11. this joke I can deal with. good one.
  12. Guess I fit that mold as well. Although I have to say that I'm pretty much all Mainer. Well, actually the 80% of Maine that still seems somewhat normal. Oh well, like old Jad said - I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for the taxes and cheaper living overall, the warmer weather, the security that I feel, among a whole host of other reasons. I must be one of those rich folk though since I do go back to where I grew up for a good chunk of the year.
  13. yeah I know right - We are all the same down here . Censorship city. lol
  14. It's an angry world we live in isn't it! Anger everywhere. Even on a sports forum board, the angries just keep on coming. I'm a Florida resident and am happy to be one.
  15. This is an interesting post. Guess I feel the same way. We don't live close to Fenway so traveling there has been an event to be entertained. Seeing the best players in the game motivated me to visit. I want to be entertained and watching mediocre no names doesn't entertain me much whether they win or not.
  16. Why fire Bloom?
  17. They already traded him! lol
  18. this year and that's it
  19. Grissom is a young unproven prospect. With the reluctance normally shown by the Red Sox to move anyone who hasn't been in their system for years, who knows whether or not the kid even gets his chance this year. I hope that he works out but it does send a message which seems like it is becoming apparent that winning this year really isn't much of a priority. This has already been mentioned and it does bug me. Trade has been called a win for both teams. I think that that analysis is about as premature as you can get. If they don't bring in a good arm, this deal sucks for fans who think that we should compete for something each year. We might have a good second baseman going forward, it remains to be seen whether or not he will be able to field the position. His addition doesn't look like it has helped a lousy defensive team at all. I don't care what people think of Sale, but if we don't sign a pitcher to replace what he might give us, I don't see how even with all of the rationalization in the world, this trade will look good for us.
  20. I've decided to change my mindset. When I was a kid we were lovable losers until things got screwed up in 1967. After that year, we had hope - every year we had hope. Before 67, if I had been able to i could have walked into any Sox home game and enjoyed watching without the crowds. I'm looking forward to those days again. Let's go!
  21. It will obviously be great if we do something about a greatest need. I just think that some of it might be wasted if these guys don't field better than they did last year. We'll see how it all shakes out but I think they are a long way from truly competing.
  22. Is anyone here suggesting that there is only one way to do something that is worth doing? I'm pretty sure that most posters realize the importance of doing all things that can be done. to be successful. We have two glaring weaknesses that I can see - starting pitching and defense. I think that while every decent player that we have in the organization develops, a little profit could be thrown toward helping out the product that we will be seeing this year.
  23. I think that you are right. If this franchise continues to cut payroll while at the same time making a large profit, I'm just not that interested in following them anymore. I'm one of those loyal to a fault kind of guys also but if they aren't actually reinvesting profits to improve then that is a clear message that tells me I'm a fool for following them. Now on the other hand, if they actually do something to help the major league team this season, I will be back on the train. I don't buy the long time plan toward improvement
  24. hmmm - that's all I got. Either the Red Sox regard this young prospect very very highly or the franchise has decided that 10 million dollars in savings was just worth it to move on from Sale. So - if Sales health continues to be an issue, we might have made a good trade, depending upon how Grissom develops. If Sale is healthy and pitches well, we better hope that the Sox use that 10 million and more to bolster a pitching staff that needs a great deal of help or this trade is going to likely not look very good.
  25. I will add that I'm kind of probing for a response here of sorts I guess because I'm not particularly Disappointed with the move. I think that it was time for the Sox to move on. If we sign a "real" pitcher soon, I will even like the deal.
