I'm moreso blaming it for the Dodgers getting that crazy low 25.55 AAV. Gerrit Cole's AAV is 10.45 mill higher than that!

25.55 for Mookie is virtually chump change, seriously. I feel a bit sick since I learned that he took basically less money than what was surely our opening offer of 300 million for 10 years.

There are still 3 months or more left in the offseason and all the pitchers mentioned as possible targets for us are still out there. I prefer to believe Bloom is playing the long game to get as much bang for the buck as possible. If we stand pat from here out, I'll be as shocked as anyone.

Kimmi, I hate to say it, but that contract is a great one for the Dodgers. I just learned that because of the deferred money, Mookie's AAV throughout the contract will only be 25.55 million. That's 4.45 mill LESS than what it would have been if he agreed to the Red Sox 10 year, $300 million offer.

You can't call it blind faith with Henry at least. His record of spending on the team over 19 seasons is sufficient basis for some faith.

Bauer is actually a much worse bet than Price was IMO. He has posted 19.9 fWAR in 1190 innings. That's about 3 WAR per 180 innings, which is good but far from great. His value is being inflated by the Recency Effect.

Bauer is reportedly looking for 5-6 years at $36 mill per year. Maybe part of the reason things are going slowly is that most players are expecting to get the same kind of deals they would get in a 'normal' offseason. Also: there's really no difference whatever between this thread and the offseason thread, is there? No big deal, except it's a bit of a pain posting news items on both threads.
