  1. Why should be players be loyal to fans, Kimmi? Fans are the first to want them gone when they're not performing. Fans are only loyal as long as the player is consistently delivering.
  2. Giants are up 2.0 again. Amazing stuff.
  3. But as I was saying, the fans don't really have any loyalty to the players either. It's all about the laundry and which GM is doing the best job moving the pieces and keeping the payroll under control.
  4. It seems pretty clear that Mookie preferred LA to Boston. The money he got from them was not even that much more than the Red Sox offer. There was the pandemic factor, but after all the time he waited to get to free agency, was that really such a big deal to him?
  5. It's a business for most. And most fans, if you can judge by those who post here, are totally heartless. "Player X is a bum." "Player X is ridiculously overpaid." "Cut Player X." "Trade Player X." "Don't re-sign Player X." You are not a typical fan. I mean that in a good way.
  6. Shaw has played some 2b as well.
  7. There is no refutation. We do have respect for many numbers here.
  8. SPLENDIDSPLINTER = Ted Williams SPLENDIDSPLITTER = Koji Uehara
  9. We're basically talking about one player?
  10. Lots of great calls Jax.
  11. He corrected your grammar. Never trust an accountant.
  12. Tito maybe left Beckett in that game too long?
  13. So how much is 1 WAR worth in your calculations, mvp?
  14. Actually, if he only DH'd this year his WAR would be over 3, which is worth more than $20 mill in free agent dollars.
  15. They're all hired guns, man.
  16. Hey, remember when Cora ditched all CERA concerns in the 2018 postseason? I do. It worked out.
  17. Because he swings at those low outside breaking balls all the time!
  18. OTOH Betts has missed a lot of games this year with an assortment of minor injuries. To answer your question I don't think it looks any better or worse. Betts is still a great player and 12 years is still a hell of a long time. Trout missing most of the season is another reminder of the crazy amount of risk in this deals. (All of which has more to do with the extension than the trade.)
  19. Meh. Devers has an OPS of .725 since August 18. Talksox wisdom says that means he should be on the bench.
  20. Around here we'll trade anybody if the return is right!
  21. I wouldn't say we know these things. If they can trade Betts, they can trade Bogaerts.
  22. Only for fans with no life.
  23. The much maligned JD Martinez is the best hitter on the team, career-wise. Career OPS/OPS+ JD 882/134 Devers 843/119 And Bogaerts is the best hitter on the team this year.
  24. So why is Vaz "still a better choice than Plawecki"?
  25. And SS's on title teams: 2004 Cabrera 2007 Lugo 2013 S Drew 2018 Bogaerts
