  1. Or Bloom is determined to get something out of Robles and Davis? I don't think he would do something like that, but who knows.
  2. The Rays, in typical fashion, seem to be having no COVID issues.
  3. That 2002 team had a run differential of +194. A prelude to greatness, I guess.
  4. What's filling me with doom is the combination of the COVID outbreak and the 6 more games with the Rays in the next 9 days.
  5. We have a ring as a WC, under a different system.
  6. 2020 was just a total mess. Can't judge much by it. Nice getting the #4 pick though.
  7. In that particular game, the second and third hitters due up were lefty hitters. One thing Perez has is consistently good numbers against lefties. It was a perfectly logical move.
  8. 2020 was a tank job. Didn't help not having a real manager, either.
  9. It's crazy, really. Not only did they ditch Snell and Morton, they traded Hill and lost Glasnow and Archer to injury. As the saying goes, it's like they're playing chess while everyone else is playing checkers.
  10. The only near certain wins are Baltimore.
  11. They're toast, Denny. They've been bad for a month and a half. No pitching help at the deadline. Bullpen is in shambles. Fundamentals and defense are atrocious. At least 5 guys out with COVID. Have to play the Rays 6 more times in the next 9 days. It was a good run while it lasted. That Dog Days thing doesn't make much sense, anyway, since everyone else has to go through them too.
  12. They obviously have a system that is leaving everyone else's in the dust.
  13. You should at least get a coupon for a beer or something.
  14. That's one way to put it LOL
  15. Hey, I can outdo your negativity easily. I don't think we're looking very good to even make it to the Wild Card game.
  16. And Xander's deal was arguably well below market. That's why we're worried about the opt out.
  17. The only problem is that Davis seems to be a below replacement level pitcher. Can you see anything hopeful in his numbers? I'm stumped.
  18. Yes Mr. Sanguine. We were 4.5 games ahead of these Rays on July 5 and now we are 9 games behind them. Move on, indeed.
  19. Why do you say that? Haven't heard anything.
  20. Have to disagree. When the extension was announced, people either said it was cheaper than expected or it was fair. And of course he pitched great in the first half. No one saw such a meltdown coming.
  21. This COVID outbreak gives me a very bad feeling. Especially since the Red Sox are reportedly one of the teams in MLB not to reach the 85% vaccinated protocol. Also not good that we have to play the Rays 6 more times. Getting into that Wild Card game is going to be tough. The A's are only 1 back of us in the loss column.
  22. Pretty hard to see much upside on Robles and Davis though. And the fact the deals weren't even known about until the last minute suggests Bloom was running around the flea market looking for anything that was left at closing time. Look, I like Bloom a lot, but like every other exec we've had, sometimes he has to take some heat too.
