  1. Agreed. The guy I first replied to here was saying Whitlock should have pitched the 8th and 9th both games, as if it's no big deal. Even though he never did it all year, and hardly any pitchers ever do it.
  2. Not me. I could never be as confident about predicting baseball results as you are.
  3. No, he wasn't, but it's also extremely unusual to get through 2 innings throwing only 15 pitches. Great pitching by Whitlock and maybe a lack of patience by Rays hitters.
  4. Yeah but Whitlock did not pitch 2 innings 2 days in a row this year, did he? You're conveniently leaving that little detail out.
  5. Funny how posters say 'Whitlock saved Cora', but no one says 'Brasier screwed Cora'.
  6. That was actually the 4th game in 5 days and 5th in 7.
  7. The contract extension with Bogaerts was a fine piece of work by Dombrowski. As a fan, I don't like the opt out, but it was all part of the deal.
  8. You're right, if it was a regular season game he wouldn't have been pulled so early.
  9. E-Rod had a 2.11 ERA over his last 4 starts of the seasons. He's capable. Maybe his issue is that he gets really down on himself when he finds his stuff isn't there early, which causes his bad games to turn into horrible ones. (Pure speculation.)
  10. Throw in Robertson's ALDS numbers and he's done pretty well. Can't really fault the Rays for that pickup. Which doesn't alter the fact that Robles has also been a good one.
  11. I found one! (A current MLB pitcher with the initials TBD.) https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/d/duffety01.shtml
  12. The Red Sox going 12-16 in August didn't help matters. You could even say that as late as September 30 the Red Sox looked like toast, after getting swept 3 by the Yanks and then losing 2 of 3 to Baltimore. The fact that it's a crazy damn game helps! But all in all, I don't see how anyone can say Bloom hasn't done a great job this year.
  13. It's not over-thinking, I'd say it's the exact opposite, it's sticking with a game plan. Brasier has been a 1-inning pitcher and they've decided that's how he's most effective. Pushing him to more than inning would be deviating from the plan. I don't always like this stuff either, but it's the way managers manage now.
  14. I don't think he'll get 100 million, no. He's an excellent offensive weapon, but strictly a DH. And with his body type there are durability concerns. He's a 50-60 million guy at most. What strikes me a little funny is how many people have been sounding anxious to get rid of JD Martinez, who is by any measure a better hitter than Schwarber over their careers.
  15. Rays had a .753 OPS against RHP and .743 against LHP this year.
  16. Holy crap. I love your kid!
  17. And there's no point trying to tell anyone to act differently, because they won't.
  18. Cash didn't punt Game 2. But you might say he "threw in the towel" leaving Wacha in as long as he did.
  19. Sounds like a pipe dream to me.
  20. My sense is you're trying to rain on Jax's parade.
  21. But I believe his opt-out decision date comes before the new CBA date, so he won't know in time.
  22. You called it too, Kimmi. You said we'd knock them out of the playoffs.
  23. As I keep pointing out to Jax, it was Cashman who hand-picked Boone. If Boone is a bad manager, that's on Cash.
  24. Also, tough guy fans love saying "deer in the headlights".
