  1. No one can say you don't maintain a positive attitude.
  2. You're kidding, right? The Rays had an OPS+ of 112 compared to the Red Sox OPS+ of 104.
  3. Yes, I think you have somewhat of a point about the oddity of bringing in Wacha there. With a day off today, why not use some better relievers to try to keep it close?
  4. STORK simply confirming again that he's a complete idiot.
  5. These things happen when you have a badly managed team.
  6. Yeah, there's nothing like a crowd of internet tough guys LOL
  7. Give a specific example of a reliever who should have been pulled sooner.
  8. No, the majority want him gone. Last night a reminder he can still be useful at times...
  9. Kimmi's nostrils were made to quiver by this post.
  10. Wake up and smell the coffee, buddy. They traded Mookie and still wouldn't go over the tax line this year. Game over, man!
  11. Based on what?
  12. Tanking is not pretty.
  13. They have the ability, yes. History shows they much prefer not to.
  14. 2020 was just an unstoppable snowballing cluster. You're right about Sale and Erod, but Cora, Betts, Price, Porcello and others were also gone for various reasons. If ever there was a perfect time to tank...
  15. You trying to start a debate over whether 'winning run' or 'game-winning RBI' is a real thing? I'm joking. But as real baseball nerds know, the 'game-winning RBI' stat did exist for a period of 10-15 years or so before it was deep-sixed again. Those same nerds know that the way the 'game-winning RBI' was determined was mirrored on the way winning pitcher is determined. Ergo, the 'game winning RBI' in the 1978 playoff game was by Dent, not Reggie.
  16. That is true. But they've only gone significantly over the cap twice, in 2018 and 2019, and Henry/Werner apparently didn't care for it all that much. So I think moon is largely correct in looking at the tax cap as the de facto budget cap.
  17. Yes, and I've started using it lately. It's the toxic cloud billowing out from the game threads that can be a bit depressing.
  18. According to denny galehouse, the Rays have no business being favored over a team they finished 8 games ahead of!
  19. I think you could make a case that Cashman has become flat out incompetent, with the deadline trade for Gallo being the most recent evidence. "Maybe if we get another three true outcome hitter who's left-handed, that'll fix things..."
  20. Who's YOUR team, STORK? Stop being such a pussy and fess up.
  21. moon, I hate to say it, but this place will not be good again until the season's over and the Negative Nellies clear out. They can be insufferable.
  22. The Rays scored 456 runs on the road this year. The Red Sox scored 359.
  23. OK well, if we go back to OPS, the Rays park-adjusted OPS+ is 112, which was third in MLB behind the Jays at 115 and Houston at 113. Don't kid yourself, they are a good hitting team. Their unadjusted OPS takes a hit from the TropDome.
  24. I'll take runs scored over any other offensive metric... And don't forget they play in a pitcher's park.
  25. Well, the Rays are the defending AL champs, finished 8 games ahead of us and were 11-8 against us head to head this year. So I've seen wackier things than them being favored in this series.
