  1. And we'll probably be glad about that a lot of the time.
  2. All those players he listed are in our system.
  3. I'm not counting Dalbec just yet.
  4. The simple answer is that people would watch that team if it's winning games. One caveat is that only 2 guys in your starting lineup have proven they can hit major league pitching.
  5. There's so little baseball to talk about right now that a little straying seems fine...
  6. I think so too. If Renfroe was a solid defender I highly doubt Bloom would have moved him.
  7. My only intention was to make a stupid joke. notin started this particular line of stupid joke with his post at the top of the page. I made my joke about "Partner Factor" and then it later occurred to me that Bauer's season and maybe his whole career was derailed by his sexual proclivities.
  8. In 2018 they were 75-34 on July 31. In 2021 they were 63-43 on July 31.
  9. Bloom impressed me a lot with the Shaw and Iggy pickups. It was a bit fluky that they did so well. But I just liked the fact he was staying on the job to the end.
  10. The Dodgers went all in to try to repeat and gave up some serious prospects in the process, I believe.
  11. Yes. Actually just about anything would be better than "baked".
  12. This could certainly be debated. The Rays ended up winning 100, so it appears Bloom correctly assessed our chances of passing them.
  13. As much as we debate over the crapshoot premise, I don't see anyone can argue it isn't a crapshoot for a WC team.
  14. In retrospect I think Bloom did a fine job at the deadline and thereafter.
  15. Don't like most food analogies. With exceptions of course. I'm a fan of the pie analogy.
  16. Can't he negotiate a contract during the dispute though?
  17. It's all baked into* WAR, which is why WAR is about the only reliable measurement. * don't especially care for the phrase, but have to use it sometimes LOL
  18. The 2021 Red Sox were incredibly fortunate to make it as far as they did. They were an 88 win team based on Pythagorean record. You could argue that they had no right even being in the playoffs after how they performed in games 154-159. Cora did a terrific job keeping them going after that.
  19. True, but on the flip side, Sox fans are still beeching about Price's contract and the continued payroll impact.
  20. I can't get over the Rangers spending $500 mill on Seager and Semien. $500 mill = 2 David Price contracts plus a Nathan Eovaldi contract.
  21. But you also said he IS a great player and SHOULD have gotten the money. I don't know if Bloom wants to give a megadeal to anyone. And who knows, maybe he's right. $325 million to Corey Seager is beyond absurd. I'm just rambling now...
