  1. He said it's "hard to grasp", didn't he? You either have bad reading comprehension, or you're just a regular old troll. Starting to lean toward the latter.
  2. Accusing fellow posters of being "sycophants" and being in an "elite clique" is pretty damn obnoxious to me, yes.
  3. Who's in this clique you speak of? Name names. All this "they" s*** is really lame.
  4. Well, I'd say you've officially become one of the obnoxious ones. Before this you posted your little joke about 'if Bloom took a dump in the outfield' more than once. So yeah, you've definitely made the grade. Congrats.
  5. Bloom sure likes bringing 'em back, I must say. In the last few months he's brought back Shaw, Iggy, Hill and JBJ!
  6. C'mon now, harms. You're conveniently leaving out the subtractions of Correa and Greinke. And yes, I realize they could still sign them, but that wasn't the point. As of today, the Astros are not better than last year, they're worse.
  7. Have to think Bloom was really disappointed by Renfroe's overall defensive scores, too.
  8. Here's all I can figure out about what we saw the last few weeks: -The usual high payroll teams, Dodgers/Yankees/Red Sox, were very nervous about adding payroll because of the uncertainty about the new CBA. (With the exception of the new rich owner, Steve Cohen, who said 'Screw it, let's have some fun.') -Players were anxious to sign before the lockout with whoever was willing to pay them. -It was a perfect opportunity for teams like the Tigers and Rangers to sign guys without having to outbid Dodgers/Yankees/Red Sox. (Although the Rangers did nonetheless pay a ridiculous amount for Seager.)
  9. No one expects the Spanish Inquisition.
  10. As of now the Cot's Contracts estimate of our 2022 payroll for tax purposes is about $199,000 - $11,000 under the 2021 first threshold. That includes Paxton. But of course we don't even know what the 2022 tax brackets will be.
  11. The budget is something only the front office knows. But we will still have one of the highest payrolls in baseball.
  12. Personally I'm relieved where these big names are signing so far.
  13. Stroman to the Cubs.
  14. I don't think anyone is thrilled about these signings. But I appreciate that Bloom is working with a tight budget and it's not easy to get quality starters without shelling out a lot of money.
  15. Actually they are talking about some major revamping in the divisions, I believe.
  16. Your primary opponents in the AL West haven't done much either.
  17. Now I have no idea what you're trying to say.
  18. In the Red Sox favor is that their competitors in the AL East have also done little.
  19. Yeah, I'll bet no one actually said that.
  20. I think if we didn't sign them, someone else would have. The other question is irrelevant.
  21. That would probably trigger the spending again, assuming Henry is still around.
  22. And what's the point of that point? We have no idea if other teams were in on Paxton. We only find out who actually signed him.
