  1. My argument is in the reply I posted to Jackson. It was a game situation call. Cora didn't want Wacha to face Ohtani there. Cora was treating this as a virtual must-win.
  2. Pitch counts aren't necessarily the big factor.
  3. You have to look at the specifics of the game, too. Sox ahead 2-0. Wacha is left in to face Ward and Trout for the third time each. Trout gets on and Ohtani is up with a chance to tie the game. Cora goes to the lefty.
  4. Yes, Modern Baseball Game Planning.
  5. It's just further proof of how silly the stats for saves and blown saves are. Maybe someone will start separately tracking "Blown Saves due to Manfred Man".
  6. Well, he was cooked by then.
  7. In a 39 year old who's made hundreds of millions?
  8. That evidence includes the Mets eating $40 mill to be rid of him.
  9. Manny always managed to drown out complaints about lack of hustle with his numbers.
  10. Just say no. Not only does he have the PED stigma, but he's notorious for a lack of hustle. In fact I think his last Mets hit was a single that should have been a double, but he got thrown out at second because he didn't run hard enough.
  11. We should be seeing a really good streak soon then.
  12. It's all down to the individuals. Houck is the one holdout, unless you count Crawford.
  13. His 2022 OPS is 266 points below his career OPS. But age and bat speed might be factors now.
  14. Those of us who supported the trade had hopes JBJ could turn it around a bit. At the moment such hopes look dim, especially since our overall hitting approach looks so bad.
  15. To me the one interesting issue is that the Sox were able to force Story to get vaxxed as a condition of signing him, but they can't force a minimum wager like Houck.
  16. Neither is yours, really.
  17. That's a question for my Prime Minister.
  18. The simple fact is they can't force him, so what's the point of debating it?
  19. Holmes has been unbelievable for you guys. His numbers with the Pirates did not suggest he was this good.
  20. Pride is one of the Seven Deadly Sins.
  21. If Story can hit as well as Bogey does at Fenway, Story will have the same numbers as Bogey, won't he? It's a big if, of course, but it seems possible.
  22. That misses the point, which is that he has hit as well on the road as Bogey has.
  23. The Sox have 5 saves, 16 holds and 6 blown saves. So their real success % is 21/27 = 77.8% MLB averages: 6 saves, 13 holds, 3 blown saves. Success % = 86.4% Dreaded Yankees: 9 saves, 23 holds, 3 blown saves. Success % = 91.4%
  24. Duran is posting good numbers again too. What about that park factor though?
