  1. Yes, this is the bottom line. If you're complaining about being the team with the most titles this century, there's not much that can be done to make you happy.
  2. It's easy to say, but the Dodgers were only getting one year of Mookie and had to pay him $27 million, so they weren't really in a position of having to give up a pile of goodies.
  3. I don't think they're all in on 2022 either, but I do think they had expectations of making the playoffs. I don't think they planned to have a fire sale in July. But they probably didn't completely rule it out, either.
  4. I don't know. He's 35 and his 2021 fWAR was -0.1. He doesn't inspire much confidence.
  5. Sometimes I really think you have to be a masochist to be a baseball fan. It's a game that often makes you feel like a little kid who just had his candy stolen.
  6. If this team is going all in on 2022, Houck as closer and Whitlock in the rotation makes some sense. That's a big if, though.
  7. Oh well, Renfroe is off to an unimpressive start, so we have some hopes there.
  8. Diekman is just not very good. He was below replacement level in 2021...
  9. In 2021 relievers pitched 18,212 innings, so 607 per team. A little bit of skewing from the use of 'openers', I would assume. I'm sure that will be noticeably higher this year.
  10. He said otherwise, but said he was fine with the decision. Said all the right things, in other words.
  11. I think that's kind of a package deal.
  12. I meant 2021, not 2022.
  13. What's the leaderboard for 2021 look like?
  14. Gaviglio - after that big innings year in 2019 he has hardly pitched since.
  15. Yarbrough wasn't a reliever. He generally came in after an "opener".
  16. And his innings and K/9 dropped precipitously the next two seasons.
  17. Stanley averaged 3.7 K's per 9 for his career LOL
  18. That's a pretty clear trend.
  19. Max innings thrown by a relief pitcher each year would say a lot.
  20. Stanley did have a rubber arm, no doubt. I don't think he threw that hard, though. Anyway, the modern trend is that guys throw a lot harder and throw less innings.
  21. Did Bob pitch 3-4 innings every third day?
  22. Yep, too hard to manage.
  23. Nope, can't be done. Arms would fall off quickly.
