  2. You're making way too much out of small samples. In his last 11 games, Suzuki has a .611 OPS and no homers. It can take a little while for pitchers to adjust to hitters they've never seen before and figure out their weak spots. It's a long season.

  4. Downs's OPS is up to .789 - just behind Casas's .801.
  5. *Hopefully* his offense does, at least.
  6. Yes, in 2019 there were many comments about how dumb it was to give Eovaldi $68 mill for one nice little playoff run...
  7. I accept.
  8. That's all reasonable. The only thing I would argue is that the fans who complained about Bogey sitting don't necessarily represent the entirety of the Nation. Complainers tend to be the ones who get "loud and clear", as you say.
  9. I trust Cora knows what he's doing, a lot more than I trust the opinion of a bunch of fans. It's as simple as that.
  10. Needless to say, they could quite easily be 8 and 12 even if Bogey did play.
  11. ABUSE him, you mean. Sure, that's gonna work. Maybe he decides to just sit out some games on his own then...
  12. Why did Whitlock start the game against the Rays? I can't remember.
  13. I think you're right, it makes sense because of the innings limit.
  14. All regulars have scheduled rest days now. The Yankees do it too and their fans bitch like crazy too. The idea is that over the long haul it keeps guys fresher down the stretch and hopefully in the playoffs.
  15. OK, so when would be the "good" time to sit Bogey? Let's say he played yesterday. Even if we won we're still only 9 and 11. So if he sat out tonight's game, there'd still be a lot of bitching.
  16. That's exactly what I expect from sports fans who share their views in a public forum. They spend a huge chunk of their time complaining about something. There were many fans who bitched about Francona's management a lot too. And he only won two World Series with us. And Cora, well, he's only won one, and been to the sixth game of the ALCS in one of his other two full seasons.
  17. Bogaerts had a hamstring issue early in the season, so maybe that played into it. I do understand why resting good players, especially when hot, is frustrating. But I think they plan this stuff out at the start of the season, and to deviate from it would be like panicking. The Jays sat Vlad today. He fouled a ball off his foot last game but finished the game. So they were being cautious, I guess. The bottom line is our offense is in an incredible slump. I have my own whipping boy, by the way. Fatse must go!
  18. A bunch of guys named Wright, so cross that one off the list.
  19. I shudder to say it, but I guess I have to Aaron Judge
  20. How about some virtuous names? Patrick Wisdom And of course Rick Wise of Red Sox fame.
  21. I think this board is dominated by grumpy old man types, but there's not much I can do about that either.
  22. He keeps pitching well no matter how they use him, so I don't really see any negative effects on him.
  23. The modern philosophy of resting players is what it is. If fans had their way a guy like Bogey would never miss a game. Anyway, if we only have one guy who can hit, we're screwed.
  24. But the only guy Cora sat was Bogey.
