Cohen is likely not done at all. Why stop until you're virtually guaranteed the 2023 trophy? This is a serious problem now. What will Manfred do? That probably depends on how much heat he's getting from other owners.

Henry and Bloom are trying to be the smart guys in the room. -Let the other teams get stuck with those albatross contracts to aging players. -Lock up potential young stars much sooner. I think they will try to do this with Bello, Casas, hopefully Mayer. But will this approach generate the desired results and do Red Sox fans have the stomach for it?

Now Correa? Jeezus. If Bowie Kuhn was alive he'd probably veto this deal. Cohen has lost his mind and Manfred is probably going to have to do something about it. I'm sure that'll go well.

Doesn't really tell the whole story, though, because you're leaving out the salaries that came off the books. Annual payroll and future commitments are the more meaningful spending numbers.

I'd say it's more like 2 down, 1 to go. If they were being aggressive in their offers to Devers it would already be done. Instead what we're hearing is "galaxies apart". I see absolutely nothing to base any hope on. I wish I could say differently.
