    The Red Sox have been providing entertainment to the whole sports world about this. The funniest part is that their final offer was apparently outbid by about 5 other teams. Not even in the same zip code. And then we have the stunned Bloom at the airport. Just an amazing clown show.

    If the plan is to stay under the limit, the plan is to suck. Maybe that's the best plan anyway. Trade Devers, tank, build for 2025. Hopefully Henry and Werner sell the team.

    I was so pissed yesterday that I actually sent an e-mail to Shaughnessy calling Henry Johnny Lowball. "Good one" was his response.

    MLBTR was making it sound like negotiations were going well with Bogey, so I think a lot of us were optimistic. But it turned out to be just another joke played on us by our clown show front office.

    Yes, but did that have any impact on the AAV of his deal, or is it just a matter for the accounts payable department.

    Well, at least now you know the league is on the lookout for deals that try to artificially lower the AAV.

    They did nothing right, oldtimer. Nothing at all. They screwed up just like they did with Betts and just like they will with Devers. They've become a clown show.

    If they don't retain Devers, that will make it a Grand Slam of homegrown stars sent packing in the last decade: Lester, Betts, Bogaerts and Devers. Quite a feat.

    At this stage in the history of the universe, my answer is yes.

    a) Devers is considerably younger. I think this FO realizes they have to do something to placate people, or sell the team.

    They might do it. But I'm sure as hell not counting on it.

    That's not really true. If there was no budget we'd still have Betts. Plus if you recall we were all surprised DD didn't spend anything on the pen for 2019 after the departure of Kimbrel and Kelly.

    It's $90M + a $15M fee that doesn't count for tax purposes, so $105M in real money.

    They were only 3 games out, so I understand why. IMHO the real problem now is crystal clear - it's Johnny Lowball and Tommy Tightwad.

    There's no bright side to this, SPLINTER. Henry and the Sox FO no longer have any idea what the f*** they're doing. Just watch and see for more proof of this, starting with Devers.
