  1. I believe he has to be on their active roster for 90 days in 2023 regardless.
  2. And the only way it can be totally fair is to have no divisions at all, as Red suggests. But that ain't happening, of course.
  3. Who really knows if he was signed with being a SS or 2B in mind - Bogey was SS in 2022 and Mayer is coming soon - Story may not play much SS for us. I just hope he plays period.
  4. Teams in weak divisions are still rewarded.
  5. Yep. You can have fun with numbers all you like, but the only ones that really matter are that we're 28-25 and 3 games back of the last Wild Card spot.
  6. Raffy's 45-10 K-BB ratio (19-2 in May) is a bit alarming. But even the great ones have slumps. I think he'll turn it around and soon.
  7. Kelly is painting, as Eck would say. He has so much movement on his pitches.
  8. It was a fact that Houck did much better the first time through the order. Maybe he's altering something in his approach.
  9. I think for the majority 2023 is about making the playoffs or not.
  10. Rays won. Yanks up 8-3. Orioles & Jays both winning. The AL Beast is really keeping the pressure on this year.
  11. Option 3 Party like it's 2018 JDM & Eovaldi (Damn, my hindsight is good from the armchair.)
  12. They've been about equally dreadful.
  13. Bello 4.08 Sale 4.72 Houck 4.99 Whitlock 5.14 Paxton 5.14 Now who's silly? I realize these guys have a good shot on improving those numbers, but I wouldn't get high and mighty about others being silly by talking about Kluber.
  14. Nice volley of rhetorical questions. Obviously the concern is that Kluber has to make multiple more starts and continues to allow 6 runs per 9 innings. Of course they would probably DFA him, but that doesn't really make it a win.
  15. IMHO pinch-hitting with Reyes in the 4th inning last night shows what a good manager Cora is. It turned out to be key to the game. He has a good sense of when to be aggressive.
  16. The real risk is that we have injuries to the current starting 5 and Kluber has to start again...
  17. I've been down on Bloom, too, but the 2023 team is doing better than I expected. Is 28-24 really so bad?
  18. At least I wouldn't get hit by a 98 MPH heater. That's a big part of my reasoning there.
  19. What does that have to do with the injury point?
  20. Academic niceties. All that really matters is what actually happened.
  21. You're being a bit selective, considering that Kluber threw a grand total of 116 innings for the years 2019-2021. If we only use 2022, Carlos Rodon has no injury concerns either.
  22. Like I said, "have a chance if I really get lucky".
  23. The only kind of major league pitcher I ever wanted to take some swings against was a knuckleballer like Wakefield. I realize he would make me look like an idiot, but at least I would have a chance of hitting the ball if I got really lucky.
  24. He has to duke it out with Kluber now for those mop-up jobs.
  25. They really want to test the medical condition of that arm, I guess.
