  1. Not sure that's the difference-maker it's made out to be. Look what happened against St. Louis. There are 2-3 truly horrific teams in MLB this year and the rest are competitive.
  2. Man, what a brutal whiff this was by Chaim. We waited the whole damn offseason for him to select a starter and this was what we got. Kind of a disgrace really.
  3. After 50 games we're 2 games over .500 with a run differential of +7. We win some, we lose some. Yuck.
  4. Recent meetings have apparently not been quite as fruitful. Also, Kike should not be saying anything at them.
  5. 2020 salaries were pro-rated.
  6. Agree on all points.
  7. I meant as a free agent signing. But he could be traded for at this year's deadline and extended too.
  8. What about notin's guy Giolito as a free agent?
  9. What you have to give up in prospects is pretty exorbitant, though. Personally I'd rather keep the prospects and sign a free agent or two.
  10. A pretty high % of MLB pitchers have injury concerns.
  11. It could certainly have been bolstered.
  12. The bottom line is Bloom ended up adding only the 88 MPH MAN Kluber to the rotation. As you have suggested yourself, this kind of penny-pinching is frustrating behavior for a rich franchise with demanding and currently disgruntled fans.
  13. Attempts and a quarter get you a gumball.
  14. Still doesn't get to clearly injured status.
  15. If you look at the 2022 innings pitched and WAR's for the 2023 starters, you had to be very optimistic to think this would be a good rotation.
  16. Those were the lucky stretches.
  17. Hugh, the rotation Bloom actually assembled looked like a disaster waiting to happen. We've been more fortunate than expected with Sale and Paxton, I would suggest.
  18. Meanwhile, Bloom masterfully waited out the signing frenzy before making the awesome stealth signing of Kluber.
  19. No, he wasn't. He recorded the final 3 outs of the 2018 WS, as you might remember, and he threw 147 innings in 2019. You really can't do that if you're clearly injured. "A clear threat to need TJ surgery" would be a more reasonable way to put it.
  20. Franchise-changing? Jeez, nothing like a little melodramatic exaggeration. Next thing you know, DD will have put Henry in the welfare line.
  21. Better to be lucky than good, then, in a wacky game like baseball, I guess.
  22. Hindsighting is a big part of what we do here. But I was baffled throughout the whole offseason about what Bloom was doing about the rotation, and I know I expressed it numerous times.
  23. Disagree 1000%. And I'd like to see the posts where you were chastised. It certainly wasn't by me.
