    I'm old school enough not to like it either. But the way I see it, if you're going to have scheduled rest days, you kind of have to stick to the schedule, or else there's not much point having it. Because you're always going to find reasons to mess with the schedule.

    It's part of standard modern baseball management. Scheduled off days. Every team is doing it. Nobody plays 162 any more * * might need a fact check on that one.

    IMO the jury is still out on whether Yoshida will prove to be a good value signing. His fWAR stands at 0.9. Not exactly setting the world on fire with that number.

    I think Theo Epstein said a success rate of 50% or over on free agents is excellent, or words to that effect.

    Castillo seems like a good template for what a trade and extend would cost.
