  1. Kike got the throwing yips, is what happened, I guess.
  2. Encouraging.
  3. For 2023 Wacha gets a $3.5 signing bonus and $4 million salary. The team option is for 2 years at $16 million. So if they do pick up the options their total cost will be $39.5 million for 3 years. The 4th year is only part of the player option.
  4. True enough.
  5. You mean to always align it with same-sided starting pitchers?
  6. Hard to say, but even if he has a great year the Padres might decline the two options of $16 mill. In any case, that's entirely under their control. If he gets hurt and can't pitch the next 3 years they could get burnt, but the AAV would remain at $6.5 mill.
  7. This is all wrong. The team option is the expensive one. If they decline it, Wacha can take the cheap option. It's similar to the Paxton deal. https://www.spotrac.com/mlb/san-diego-padres/michael-wacha-13219/#:~:text=Michael%20Wacha%20signed%20a%204,a%20total%20salary%20of%20%247%2C500%2C000.
  8. I'm guessing Kike has a lot to do with that %.
  9. Maybe the timetable for scheduled rest days is set up at the start of the season. We're all just guessing.
  10. I'm sure other managers do the same thing. How far in advance are the rest days scheduled, and how far in advance do you know who the opposing pitcher is going to be? I can't believe you're calling the greatest manager in Red Sox history a bonehead.
  11. I know how his contract works, but he's still cheap this year.
  12. The first one absolutely, the second I'm not sure.
  13. My main beef is with all the stuff about Wacha being lucky. Seems a little over the top. He has a fine WAR. Does WAR suck now?
  14. You mentioned he was playing with a sore wrist, I think, which is kind of typical of Xander. His O has been picking up the last few games. Also, it's the whole freakin' season that counts. You seem to have become a cherry-picker extraordinaire.
  15. He's definitely not. You should hear Yankee fans bitch about rest days. I follow a Yankee forum just for amusement.
  16. You'll have to ask Chaim that one.
  17. Xander has an fWAR of 2.1. Can we at least try to use numbers that mean something?
  18. Which totally bypasses my question about fWAR, which as I understand it is largely based on FIP.
  19. Wacha was cheap, so that's one big distinction from deGrom and Rodon.
  20. You can be harsh.
  21. He has an fWAR of 2.0 now. Does fWAR not weed out the luck factor enough?
  22. I suspect that the mental break is considered to be even more important than the physical break.
  23. I've always said Cora has stones. He knew the fans would be in an uproar about Raffy sitting.
  24. What do you think of scheduled rest days, Dipre? I understand the concept 100%. I also get why it drives the average fan nuts sometimes.
