The direction to move on from Mookie had to come from Henry.
Decisions on a player of that magnitude and cost are ownership decisions.
The HOBOs are just hired hands who can be fired any time.
Mookie has been so classy and so smart since he left. Not a single word against his former team.
Still kind of hard to believe the uber-rich Red Sox could not hold onto one of the very best players in their history in his prime.
IMHO both Dombrowski and Bloom are entirely blameless in Mookie's departure. JH drew a financial line in the sand. Mookie said himself if he got the Dodgers offer from the Sox he would have taken it. Maybe Mookie was just being politically correct, but there's no evidence to contradict what he said...
I'm with fellow poster Dipre, who says in a lost season like this surely is, you might as well see what Casas and Duran have.
OTOH Duvall obviously deserves his fair share of playing time.
Getting into the playoffs in 2021 and knocking off the Yankees and Rays had a lot to do with that thinking.
Definitely trending down hard since then.
I still think Cora is a good manager, but Bloom hasn't been giving him much to work with. But I can understand why Cora is taking lots of flak too, because the team is playing sloppy and last night's use of Kluber was a debacle.
