  1. Yeah, like I said I'm going to trust Breslow on this one. If he thought it was an urgent problem he'd address it. I have to think Wong is doing stuff in the defensive area that they're satisfied with.
  2. One hilarious thing is that he seems to think we're a bunch of youngsters here. 😄 (Fully aware this will launch a fresh barrage of insults from him.)
  3. True, but it does show how severe the attrition rate is. They won it with 2 guys who had missed a lot of the season and one deadline acquisition.
  4. sk7326 is one of the most reasonable and well informed posters on this site.
  5. And as soon as we trade for him, Talksox would start howling incessantly to lock him up with a monstrous extension. You know how this works.
  6. Gallen was really good right up to 2024. As fans, we are basically just miserable pr**ks. 😀
  7. Qualifier: a great SP who stays healthy can do that. As I recall, Gerrit Cole used to do that.
  8. Hee hee, good point...a couple of Buehler-like starts from Gallen, and Talksox would be hanging Breslow. I don't think we should give up on Buehler just yet, either. I'm sure he's working hard with Bailey to fix the issues he's having. Of course I'm not sure his much-repaired arm can do much about the issues...
  9. As great as Skenes has been, I'm not sure the Sox are ready to have the contract he would command and Crochet's contract both on the books. And there are other pitchers to be paid as well.
  10. Regarding Wong, I have to trust Breslow on this one. I think he has given me enough reason to trust him.
  11. I agree. You don't trade guys like Anthony or Mayer. (Ducks the incoming "I'd trade anybody in the right deal" posts.)
  12. Eovaldi would be an excellent target.
  13. In this case there's a wild amount of condescension coming from the other side.
  14. Plus, you might basically tread water in the "important stretch" and have no change at all in the outlook. There are just certain things people love to say, over and over. 😄
  15. I haven't been paying much attention to who Wong has been catching most of the time, but that's kind of an important consideration.
  16. It's definitely a big stretch of games coming up. But they all are when you're battling for a playoff spot.
  17. Pretty simple, Max - Devers at 1B and Yoshida at DH was a better configuration than Devers at DH and Yoshida nowhere...
  18. Career OPS+ Manny Ramirez 154 David Ortiz 141 JD Martinez 131 Rafael Devers 128 Devers is a very good power hitter, but not nearly in the same class as Manny or Papi, much more in the class of JDM. Which makes him clearly overpaid as a DH.
  19. People say stuff like this all year, basically. 🙂
  20. Campbell, Garcia, Masa and Ref are not good OF depth for 2025. Campbell and Garcia are unproven as MLB players. And Masa and Ref are bad defensive players.
  21. Agree 100%. Depth can be very temporary. And good point about Bregman's health still being a concern.
  22. Yes, with regard to Bello and Rafaela, they are actually exceeding expectations right now, and those extensions do look very good...right now.
  23. Cigar moments are for when you win the ring.
