    If you were going to give an example of an ideal time to sacrifice bunt, what would it be?

    Because the metrics showed that sacrifice bunts cost you more runs than they add. Which makes perfect sense when you consider that you only have 3 outs and sacrificing hands 33% of those outs to the opponent.

    But if any of us were sane we wouldn't be spending all this time following a baseball team. Sports is an irrational world. You've got 30 teams and only one champion. You fail a vast percentage of the time.

    Breslow played it down the middle again, it's hard to dispute that. His deadlines have been very similar to Bloom's.

    There is still some complacency in how this team is being run. The extensions are great, but there's something amiss when Toro is still getting crucial at-bats.

    Henry isn't selling the team. If he was he wouldn't have signed off on 5 long-term extensions. If you're waiting for Henry to go you'll be waiting until one of you dies - and if it's Henry that dies I assume his shares will go to Linda...

    No, the season didn't end with yesterday's loss. One loss in itself, however brutal, is just one loss. But I will certainly admit that making the playoffs feels pretty shaky at the moment.

    Yankees bats have suddenly caught fire and we know the O's are playing a lot better. If somebody gave me 3-5 in these next 8 games I might have to take it.

    Although I wish the best whenever he plays, I don't think he has earned much love, Kimmi. Here are his fWARs to date: 2023 +0.7 2024 +0.9 2025 -0.2 Total +1.4 !!! Now it looks like they've even decided they have to platoon him.

    It's totally impossible to quantify the psychological part of the game. But it seems reasonable to assume that it exists.

    We all envied the Dodgers for signing Tanner Scott and Kirby Yates. Both have been pretty lousy. It's crazy hard to make the right calls with pitchers.
