  1. I was talking about his defensive numbers for all 3 MLB part seasons, BTW. Every single number is negative.
  2. He's pro level.
  3. I assume Bailey and Varitek do the game planning. Not sure how much latitude the catchers have to make calls.
  4. mvp is just yanking chains.
  5. I don't think anyone is down on Breslow, really. Most Red Sox fans have come to realize where the real issues of recent years lie.
  6. Sure he does. He was putting in extra effort in the offseason in more ways than one. Just s***** luck.
  7. It is. But last year he had a BABIP of 344 and it still only resulted in a 659 OPS.
  8. I don't think anyone will dispute that Sale is still a fairly high injury risk. However, a) He was healthy at the end of 2023. He had TJ surgery which obviously accounts for a lot of the missed time. c) Two of his other injuries were fluky stuff-getting hit by a ball and falling off a bike. These are things that the Braves were obviously looking at.
  9. OK, let's go Old School on Yoshida: 15 HR 72 RBI Not great production for a DH who cost the team $105 million for 5 years.
  10. The lack of home runs and extra base hits is just ridiculous. How can you be a good MLB hitter if you can't hit home runs or doubles?
  11. What does Grissom actually do well, in an MLB context, is kind of the question.
  12. Merely citing objective statistics.
  13. It's almost like the same guys who scouted Grissom for us are the guys who scouted Yoshida. Seeing stuff that just isn't there. Mirages.
  14. Grissom's defensive numbers per FanGraphs are all in the red zone too, folks.
  15. They had motivation to lie in one case. Can you guess which one?
  16. His fWAR of -0.8 in 20 games extrapolates to -6.4 for 160 games. Pretty sure that would be a record.
  17. And the Braves said he's gonna be a star!
  18. Grissom's last 215 MLB PA's: HR 0 3B 1 2B 5
  19. Well, for one deliberately oversimplified example of the decision chain: Henry decides how much Breslow can spend. Breslow decides how to spend it. Cora decides on lineups and pitching changes etc.
  20. Hey Dad, who's pitching against the Sox tonight? "Corbin Burnes, son."
  21. At the very least they missed an opportunity for a great PR promo: The Return of Sale Day!
  22. Bello might be the new E-Rod in the luck department. Last night he got both run support and a tremendous assist from Bernardino.
  23. No idea why you keep saying this. It obviously made no sense to pick up the team option early. It's a strawman argument.
  24. Because: -Our offense has been terrible -First base is an offense-first position -Cooper and Smith have been terrible -Kavadas has a 1.031 OPS, 10 HR and 30 RBI for Worcester
  25. Where are you getting that from?
